IN RESERVE: R'S BEAT MK DONS Posted on: Wed 19 Oct 2011
QPR Reserves beat a second string MK Dons side in convincing fashion at Harlington this afternoon.
The R's named an experienced starting XI, which included Bradley Orr, Jason Puncheon, Petter Vaagan Moen, Akos Buzsaky, Lee Cook, Hogan Ephraim and Rob Hulse.
With this depth of proficiency amongst the side, it wasn't long until Rangers got off the mark, as Hulse struck the target on 14 minutes, after turning his defender inside-out and striking the ball past the goalkeeper from just inside the Dons penalty area.
Despite this early lead, the visitors levelled the match 15 minutes later, as live-wire Charlie McDonald slotted in from close-range.
As the game looked set to go into the half-time break all-square, Ephraim's neat finish from the right ensured this wouldn't be the case.
The visitors attacked the second half from the first whistle, and were rewarded with an early penalty, as Shaun Williams converted to bring the score level.
10 minutes later and the R's were rewarded with a penalty of their own, which Ephraim scored, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.
This goal ensured the R's were back on top of the match, as a number of youngsters were introduced into the game.
Mo Shariff scored a brace in two consecutive attacks, his first from an impressive run down the left-flank, and his second was finished in true style, rounding the goalkeeper and slotting home into an empty net.
Ephraim completed his hat-trick just three minutes from the full-time whistle, as the R's were given their second penalty of the afternoon.
