Ten-year-old keeper to face top European clubs
Goalkeeper Lewis Todd will play against sides from top European clubs including AC Milan, Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund and Celtic this Summer.
The 10 year old, of Chesham Road, Bovingdon, has only been wearing the number 1 jersey since September 2008, yet he has just signed for Luton Town's Centre of Excellence, and will play in the forthcoming 2009/10 season.
"When I was at Kings Langley our keeper left and I asked if I could go in goal," said the former midfielder. "I started to like it and have played there ever since."
He was then encouraged by coach Jason Ward to try out for the Performance Centre at Luton, and impressed so much he was called into the Centre of Excellence, where he put pen to paper last Tuesday.
"As soon as he went in goal he gave the whole team a confidence boost," said his coach Ward.
"We have had a few shootouts in cup competitions and he's saved the vital penalties. He's done really well.
"He's a natural really."
QPR -mad Lewis, who attends Thomas Coram School in Berkhamsted, has been playing for Kings Langley FC since the age of seven.
He will continue at the club until the end of the season when he will move on to Luton.
One of his first ports of call for his new club will be summer tournaments in Germany and Sweden where he will line up against academy sides from some of the top European teams.
The new season begins at September, with Lewis eagerly anticipating his first season as a Luton player.
But one match on the calendar sticks out more than the rest for the youngster, where just three letters on the fixture list spell out just how important one game of football can be to one 10 year old.
Those letters are Q,P and R.
