I wanted to ask QPR Report, who , in your opinion was QPR's finest keeper? I only know Parkes, Miklosko, Seaman, not living in England meant I kept losing touch with qpr, especially since I lived overseas for about ten years, pre-internet days, can't remember the 82 FA Cup keeper, even though I was here in Malaysia, was 16, and watched both finals against Ardiles and Hoddle and Spurs, but a lifetime of alcohol and other err things has wiped out many brain cells, including who on earth were our goalies and captains..
So who was QPR's best Goalie?

Shouldn't ask me. Should ask Gramps and London - who also saw Reg Allen and Ron Springett in their (the players'!) prime.
But certainly I don't think anyone would doubt that at a minimum, our finest goalie since AT LEAST Ron Springett (first time) was Phil Parkes. (And selling him was one of the stupidest things Jim Gregory did)

England had Banks then Shilton and Clemence, amazing to think that Parkes would probably have walked in to England's first team today.

Shilton/Clemence might have been one minimal fraction better than Parkes (Corrigan/Rimmer certainly were not). But the difference in quality between Shilton/Clemence/Parkes was really nothing. All were great goalies. All ten times better than anything England has been playing for the last umpteen years.

can't remember the 82 FA Cup keeper, How can you forget Peter Hucker! In my time, since 1980, Seaman is the best I've seen, though Hucker is my favourite.

Phil Parkes got the solitary cap against Portugal (0-0), refused to go on a meaningless tour of the USA and never played for England again. Without a shadow of a doubt, the best keeper in my 46 years supporting the r's

Well if Wicks hadn't been Cup tied...and Clive Allen not injured at the very start of the first game ...and Roeder not suspended from the replay..and Tony Currie not past his best/not fully match fit....

How long did Seaman play for us before Arsenal Mac? Seaman came to us in -1986 and played 175 games. He cost us £225,000 from Birmingham City and we sold him to Arsenal in 1990 for £1,300,000. I would agree that our best 'keeper in more modern times was Phil Parkes but for me the best ever was Reg Allen who first played for us in 1938 then went to Manchester United in 1950 £12,000 which was a record at that time - long before stupid transfer fees started coming in.

Phil Parkes by a country mile in my time of watching Rangers.
Reg Allen must have been good as he cost a world record transfer fee for a goalkeeper when he left (as did Parkes) but that was before I was born!

Both great, in different ways, eras techniques. I like Drinkwater too with lousy teams in front of him and that makes a huge difference. Kenny goes into the book for the miracle year.

Hucker Parkes, Seaman, Parks covered the goalmouth and the corners and crosses, Allen seemed invincible. For one game one shot Id take Allen.

My old father in law said Reg Allen was our best ever and I wouldn't disagree although obviously never saw him play.
Ray Drinkwater was the first goalie I remember, he was great considering we were a small 3rd div side. Then Ron and Peter Springett followed by Mike Kelly all top class but Phil Parkes was for me our best.
I think that has been our touch of luck over the years to have had so many good goalies.

I have watched them all from Reg Allen to Paddy Kenny and for my money the winner by some margin is PHIL PARKES.

For those who never saw Reg Allen, the closest i can come is remember Neville Southall.
his reflex ability courage, reading the one on one, made the net look smaller, Reg was close to this, athough much better looking. Reg played on lousy pitches, with a much heavier ball, painful to catch evenn with gloves. I dont think you can really compare eras that well.
We had some fine goalkeepers from 1900 to 1938. Need Bushman to help me with that.

Phil Parkes probably edges it over David Seaman for me (just) as our greatest keeper. But for sheer entertainment value how come no one has mentioned ...
BUDGIEEEE! (For the unitiated that's John Burridge. He was always bantering with the fans and was a real character.)

Can we please get an honorary mention for Lee Camp? I know he won't be the best goalie in the history, but I think he was at least the best goalie we had in the last 10 years and I still don't understand why we sold him to Forest on the cheap. By the way I better hope we have a big sell-on fee in that contract just in case he does go to Swansea
