Joe Cole to Make QPR Switch Joe Cole is being heavily linked with a move to QPR as he looks to re-establish himself as a first team footballer in the Premier League…again. Reports suggest a loan deal could be agreed in the coming days, although the Reds would prefer to let the player go on a permanent basis if possible. Liverpool are keen to reduce their wage load to finance further summer signings, and shifting Cole would free up around £90k per week to put towards Kenny Dalglish’s transfer kitty. However, there are few clubs who could afford such sums meaning John Henry may have to fork out some form of compensation or contribution in order to allow the player to move on. The future of QPR captain Adel Taarabt remains in doubt and some sources are even suggesting that the Moroccan could be involved in a swap deal with the ex Chelsea star. However, signing Cole on a permanent basis would be a risky strategy for a newly promoted club as they simply could not afford to be lumbered with him should they go back down. A loan move looks the most viable option for a player who is thought to be desperate to return to London, but with the Hoops only willing to shell out around half of the 29-year-old’s wages, it remains to be seen whether or not a conclusion can be reached. Personally if I had my druthers, I'd go for an England International (or better!) quality Central Defender. Who exactly I couldnt say. But that's where I'd be looking

Cole is a sick note and his goal scoring legend is just that. He would be worth 10k per wekk max. Or less considering the amount of time in the treatment room. Some people have Joe Cole in some sort of legendary god type player, but what has he really achieved?

I also think it's an old story retold, but if true it's the same story we have had a number of times this year. Old player who was great nearing the end of his career. If it comes off it's a master stroke, if it doesn't it's a disaster. Let's hope they are all master strokes!!

This has Briatore's influence written all over. A "high profile" signing that boosts the pedigree of the club, regardless of whether it is the most financially practical move (given other opportunities), or an ideal fit on the pitch/in the dressing room

I think if we sign cole, much like Dyer, if the risk pays off Warnock will look to be a genius, if it doesn't there will be big pressure in January to sign some better players. I don't understand why we have been linked with all these wide midfielders and not any defenders?
