No comment! AP - UEFA creates expert team to police club Finances
(AP) - UEFA has created a team of legal and financial experts to police the finances of Europe's top clubs.European football's governing body agreed on Tuesday to set up a financial control panel that will audit clubs to ensure they have filed honest accounts. "It may further conduct spot-checks and/or investigations to ensure that the integrity rules are observed by clubs," UEFA said in a statement after a meeting of its executive committee. The new panel will be in the front line of UEFA's "financial fair play" campaign to monitor and regulate spending at Europe's best and wealthiest clubs. Clubs cannot play in the elite Champions League and second-tier UEFA Cup, which is renamed the Europa League next season, unless they have a financial license approved by the governing body. The financial panel "will be in charge of supervising the correct application of the licensing system," UEFA said. The experts, comprising a chairman and up to eight more members, will be appointed by the UEFA executive. UEFA also agreed Tuesday to step up its fight against suspected betting fraud and match-fixing by agreeing to appoint two more inspectors to its investigation unit. msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/9374670/UEFA-creates-expert-team-to-police-club-finances
