That was the name McIntyre mentioned some months ago as the type of Paladini-please-the-fans type story..
Makes no sense to spend 10 million pounds on a forward and not be allowed to sign Graham, CMS and three four others.

These stories appear to give the fans hope. But the bottom line is. I stand more chance of having a 3 some with Beyonce and Lady GaGa, than of Crouch playing for us next season.

The People
Home Sport Football Football Hotline QPR given permission to hold talks with Crouch Jul 17 2011 by Dave Kidd, The People NEIL WARNOCK is launching an ambitious bid to bring Peter Crouch back to QPR and Tottenham are ready to listen to offers for the England striker. Rangers boss Warnock has been battling for transfer funds all summer, but is now becoming active in the transfer market. And he wants Crouch to spearhead his teams assault on the Premier League when they kick off against Bolton at Loftus Road on August 13. Harry Redknapp is desperate to land Manchester Citys Emmanuel Adebayor, which would leave Crouch on the {fringes at Spurs. Receptive Crouch, 30, wants regular first-team football and to stay in London ideally, so his options are limited. And the beanpole hitman could be receptive to rejoining the club where he made his League debut in 2000. Spurs need to off-load players to fund their bid for Adebayor as they must see off Real Madrid, whose valuation of the Togo man is capped at £10million. Crouchs transfer depends on Warnock persuading QPRs {money men to cough up a £6m fee plus a competitive salary {package. But Warnock believes he is winning the argument for the clubs owners to gamble on {making significant investment to keep the club in the top flight.QPR signed Kieron Dyer and Jay Bothroyd on free transfers in midweek, outbidding rivals with the scale of their wages. But they look set to be with star midfielder Adel Taarabt who has told Warnock that he wants to quit the club and join Paris Saint Germain. Redknapp, meanwhile, hopes for more money from the sale of {midfielder Giovani Dos Santos, who is lined up for a move to Getafe. Italians Udinese and Getafes Spanish compatriots Valencia are also in the market for the 22-year-old, but Hotline {understands the Madrid-based club head the queue. Spurs paid Barcelona £4.8m to take the Mexican to White Hart Lane in 2008 and will now demand around £12m. Dos Santos played every game for Mexico at the last World Cup and finished runner-up to Germanys Thomas Muller as the Young Player of the Tournament. Apart from their interest in Adebayor, Spurs are racing against time to sign Ivory Coast sensation Souleymane Coulibaly before the window shuts. Supremo Daniel Levy has set up a £2m move for the teenage superstar who is ready to leave Italian side Siena. Coulibaly has to wait until his father gets an Italian passport, which is scheduled to happen in the next few weeks, as he needs to come here on that basis. The 16-year-old will not get a work permit at his tender age and has to arrive in Britain under the family umbrella. The Coulibalys fled to Italy a couple of years ago to avoid the fighting in their homeland. www.people.co.uk/sport/football/football-hotline/2011/07/17/qpr-given-permission-to-hold-talks-with-crouch-102039-23275857/

Well that statement totally contradicts Neil what he said on Friday , but the only logic i can see of us getting near Crouch is maybe the board can have the monies from Tarbs sale if it goes through in the next 2 weeks.

Ridiculous story but if Flavio back tracked , which is doubtful and said NW could have the Tarbs money (want him to stay ) Maybe instead of giving Spurs 5 million and keeping 10 million , we give the whole lot to Spurs and they give us Crouch and Naughton would anyone take this !or should we ask for Walker or Jenas on loan aswell. We know we cant hang on Tarbs forever , i hoped we could at least hang on until Jan but not looking good.

Waste of money paying a transfer fee on Crouch. How old now? You'll never get it back.

Interestingly the article mentions him winning the battle for funds....perhaps this is being influence by potential sponsors saying they won't pay top dollar for a team without some big names

Would you let Crouch go for £6m? by MATTHEW HARRIS on JULY 18, 2011 While many fans are starting to feel that our same four strikers are going to remain at the club this season, there were many stories at the weekend linking Peter Crouch with a possible move to QPR.
Crouch left Spurs for QPR back in 2000 and spent a season there before moving on to Portsmouth and while his record at Loftus Road wasn’t great, it’s thought that he could give Rangers the experience and hopefully goals that they need to survive.
The newspaper reports at the weekend suggested that Spurs had given Neil Warnock and his club permission to speak to the player and that the fee involved could be as little as £6m pounds. The reports continued to suggest that Crouch is happy to move on, but wants to stay in London, so the move could be a good one all round.
Any further developments or possibly denials are awaited, but maybe it’s not too late to shake up this misfiring strike force. Would you let Crouch go for £6m, or is he the one striker that we do need to keep hold of?
Spread The Spurs Love: { 3 comments… read them below or add one } timoyido July 18, 2011 at 11:28 am get shot of him. nice guy but when hes in the team the style of football aint pretty. sure he can head the ball but he gives away free kicks like wenger gives children sweets. im bored of this transfer window. Spend some money!!! strikers are the only area we really need to improve. i guarantee HR is gonna buy 3-4 midfielders and no strikers again!!! tsk
REPLY
Paul July 18, 2011 at 11:29 am I would certainly show Crouch the door and if QPR are mugs enough to cough up £6m then we should have their arm off. if we could get them to take Defoe, Keane, Bentley, Jenas, Bassong and Hutton too then that would be a great bonus
REPLY
J July 18, 2011 at 11:29 am I would let him go for FREE!!
The worst striker i have EVER seen is a Spurs shirt…he cant even kick the ball properly!!!

Crouch's coming 'ome! ;D Don't beleive but happy to have him. He lives in Weybridge, my son has spoken to him on a number of occassions. He goes to the KFC in Walton as well, loves to push the boat out obviously! For the Spurs fans information, he leaft us to join them in the fisrst place, carted back and forth by Gerry Francis. Crouch played in the same team as a mate's son in Ealing some years back. ;D Nice lad and a fan, unlike his Dad.

Shock: Seems unlikely! Mail Crouch to QPR looks a tall order as Stoke track Twente powerhouse Janko By Simon Jones - The Insider Last updated at 4:35 PM on 19th July 2011 Simon Jones is Sportsmail's man on the inside of all the major transfer moves this summer. His column, published every weekday, offers an insight into the deals which will be done and those that won't - and why. A 5/5-rating means The Insider reckons it's a done deal; 0/5 means The Insider has his mortgage on it not happening. Don't miss your daily Insider instalment here. PETER CROUCH Tottenham to QPR THE INSIDER says: 1/5 Neil Warnock would love to have Crouch back at QPR but there's a slim chance of that happening in the current climate. Warnock is battling for transfer funds and it's proving increasingly difficult for him to think about big-name targets. Adel Taarabt's proposed move to Paris St Germain may change that should the French team back up claims of being willing to offer £15m for the midfielder but you sense even then Warnock wont get everything his own way. Crouch wants to stay at Tottenham where he has fared better than their other strikers. Harry Redknapp would like Emmanuel Adebayor, as revealed by Sportsmail, and, should they work out the financial conundrum of that transfer, then Crouch's place would be under threat. Tottenham want at least three new signings but still need to get players out the door and unless they are more practical in their valuations those fringe players won't be leaving. They are bringing in young players such as Souleymane Coulibaly from Siena but Redknapp wants more experienced players who can hit the ground running and go straight into his first team. He will only have the funds to really compete though once the likes of Robbie Keane, Jermaine Jenas and Alan Hutton can be found a new home. QPR will continue to look for bargains at the moment and, after handing Danny Webber a lifeline, Warnock is also taking a look at Danny Gabbidon. Stoke turn to Peter Crouch following striker snubs Frustrated Stoke boss Tony Pulis has turned to Peter Crouch as he attempts to land an experienced Premier League striker. The Potters chief has missed out on Birmingham’s Cameron Jerome and West Ham’s Carlton Cole in the past couple of weeks. Stoke refused to match the duo’s wage demands, leaving Pulis with a striking headache. Now he is turning to old friend Harry Redknapp in a bid to find a hitman he is happy to splash some cash on. Spurs striker Crouch is deemed surplus to requirements and Stoke are banking on the London club’s willingness to move him on to bring him into their wage bracket. They are happy to pay up to £10million if Spurs manager Redknapp agrees to pay off a chunk of Crouch’s contract and ease through a move to the Potteries. Stoke are unlikely to get a deal completed in time for the England man to play against Hajduk Split in the Europa League on Thursday week. QPR are also interested and the Potters may have to wait before landing their latest target. (Two writers!) Jul 22 2011 By Jacob Murtagh and Paul Warburton /EAling GAzette
QPR boss plays down Crouch move QPR boss Neil Warnock will roll out the red carpet if Peter Crouch decides to join the club - but the England forward needs to take a massive wage cut of around 70k-a-week first. The Spurs striker made his first steps to the big time when he was at Loftus Road 10 years ago, and admitted last night he would like to return someday before he hangs up his boots. Crouch said: "I've got a lot of affection for the club, and loved playing down there when I was young. I certainly wouldn't rule out ever playing for QPR again." However, despite speculation this week linking the Ealing-born-and-raised forward with Hoops, Warnock reckons Crouch's near £90k-a-week is so far out of reach - it's not worth picking up the phone. He said: "If Crouchy wants to fit into the QPR wage structure, I'd welcome with open arms. But something tells me that isn't going to happen." Crouch insists his boyhood heroes will need to get new faces if they are to survive a testing first season back in the top flight after 15 years. "It's always difficult as a club coming up," he said. "They deserved to win the Championship but with the level in the Premier League they will have to buy a few players and hope some of those players who got them up adapt quickly. "It's so difficult because every year the teams who come up are expected to go down. Hopefully they do it. They've got good resources and can hopefully add to the squad they've got." www.ealinggazette.co.uk/sport/qpr-ealing/2011/07/22/qpr-boss-plays-down-crouch-move-64767-29099624/
