The Guardian named best newspaper by Football Supporters' Federation

• Spanish football expert Sid Lowe also named best writerThe Guardian has been named Fans' Newspaper of the Year by the Football Supporters' Federation which commended its "extraordinary number of talented writers, an online presence that is the envy of all, and an eye for the issues that really matter" The Guardian saw off challenges from its sister paper the Observer, News of the World and the Non-League Paper Our Spain-based correspondent Sid Lowe, was named Football Writer of the Year by the 180,000- strong FSF and in something of a treble for the paper, Zonal Marking, which supplies a weekly tactical blog for guardian.co.uk, was named Website of the Year The FSF said of Lowe, who edged out his Guardian colleague David Conn for the award: "Sid's writing is consistently insightful, engaging, and puts football into its rightful cultural context www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jul/10/guardian-best-newspaper-football-supporters
