Hope you don't mind me dropping mine in with an initial snippet: A SOLITARY goal from Mikele Leigertwood was enough to secure a long-awaited first win of 2009 in W12. The R`s first win in ten games came courtesy of a well guided header from the stand-in skipper who guided Jordi Lòpez`s curling free kick beyond the reach of Dorus de Vries. Rangers had in truth put in a performance of a similar calibre to recent weeks, but in this particular match lady luck shone on W12 as they bagged their first goal in four games and condemned Roberto Martinez to back to back defeats for the first time in his tenure. The performance marked the coming of age of young Adel Taarabt on loan from Tottenham Hotspur as his trickery and sublime skill delighted the Loftus Road crowd and spurred the R`s on to a much needed victory. A timely blow to Swansea`s playoff hopes which sees hope spring eternal that QPR may well finish their season with a bang. www.qpr.vitalfootball.co.uk/matchrep.asp?a=147817

It was by far a fine performance by us last night. Some good, some bad: Defensively we were superb. Ramage even putting in a perfect sliding tackle in the box as their striker was about to pull the trigger towards the end. Midfield - too many passes going astray. Leigertwood was awful for the first 29mins. Every pass going straight to a Swansea player. His form has dropped considerably over the last couple of months culminating in some woeful home displays of late, but then he pops up in the box, great header, puts us 1-0 up and then settles down and plays a much improved game. If he had a left foot he would be twice as good! Lopez, a bit scrappy at times, the physical side of the game in the championship is catching up with him as the opposition try to nullify him, but he is class and some of his passes are superb in both vision and execution. If only the other players were fully on his wavelength, then some of his passes would not be wasted, but that will come in time. I would like to see him in a Rangers shirt next season. Alberti frustrated me in the first half with his useless attempts to beat the defender and put in a cross, only to shine in the second half with some great touches on the wing and some decent crosses. he does need to last 90 mins. though as he seems to fade later on. Taraabt: different class. Destroyed the fullback Leijer all night. Incredible touch, intelligence, desire and ability. The only way Leijer could stop him was to literally punch him in the face, which he did after 70mins. when the ref's back was turned. I hope it's on camera, that was assault. Disgusting. Ephraim, his usual huff and puff self to begin with but then when he linked with Taraabt he was superb at times. Taraabt not only played a blinder but also made Hogie (as I call him) up his game. Attack - DiCarmine: I've had enough of. Don't know why he's on the pitch. Never looked like scoring, can't lose his marker, can't win a header. 19 months and millions of pounds later, that's who is leading the attack? Blackstock better be ill or injured, but this is QPR so who knows?
Overall not exactly a great game, though we do show potential. I do truly believe that with a fully fit squad, after Sousa has had a pre-season with them and got rid of the players he doesn't want and bought in the right 2 or 3 players, we should make a challenge for the top 4 next season.
In Sousa we trust.

Thanks for that Mark, for info, Blackstock had dodgy hamstrings and not trained since saints game. Routledge got a knock on the knee and has a lump but should be OK for Saturday.

It's true...will stick my neck out and say Di Carmine is never going to be the answer and has made an unacceptably small contribution to this season.
