Dave Sexton is not on this list...Jim Smith is not on this list...Don Howe is not on this list...and Gerry Francis is not on this list. (Nor are Docherty, Burtenshaw, Mullery, Harford, and a myriad of others) Dave Mangnall Alec Stock Gordon Jago Terry Venables Ian Holloway [This Space reserved (G-d willing/FA Willing) for Neil Warnock] And what do they all have in common?

im guessing that they all got us promoted, but i am amazed how many people think that dave sexton was our best ever manager he was completely incapable of whealing and dealing in the transfer market,he had success with chelsea but the squad was assembled by tommmy docherty and at qpr he took over a squad which was built by gordon jago io would like other fans to say who was there all time top five managers mine is venables..1st francis......2nd smith........3rd warnock....4th holloway....5th

Sexton's forte was clearly as a coach (and after us he was set to be head coach at Arsenal - rather than manager - before Man Ut hijacked him.
But at QPR he did sign Don Masson and John Hollins
(+ Don Shanks & Peter Eastoe)

yes mac i think he also signed dave webb but its no good signing three players who were all about 30 years of age you then end up with an aging squad of players and get relegated, venables took us up with a youthfull team that ended up spending thirteen consequetive seasons in the prem

Of course some of those who made the good signings were TERRIBLE managers.
Think Mullery signing Bannister and Byrne - and almost signing Mick Harford/Cyril Regis
Or Trevor Francis signing Andy Sinton among others
Or Tommy Docherty signing (almost!) every player in England!

he was completely incapable of whealing and dealing in the transfer market In comparison then with Jago, Venables and other previous managers, how well do you think Gianni Pallidini has done in the transfer market during his time?

It's far more difficult to work out who is responsible for the transfer of players at loads of clubs, up and down the country, from Blackburn to QPR, such is the way football is reported on these days. With Pallidini it is far to say that from when he joined, up until the recent owner's takeover he was heavily involved in all the transfer activity at the club as per his remit. In that time a lot of players came and went from the club so I do feel there is enough to form opinion on him in the transfer market. I thought that he had a very haphazard approach to it all. He seemed to throw a lot of darts at the wall and fortunately some of them hit the bulls-eye, but overall, for whatever reasons, the majority of his signings were not good enough, some frankly bewildering, far outweighing the occasional good ones.

well thats why i go for venables as the great ever managers his transfer dealings were out of this world he also bid 400 000 for gary linacre but was rejected, venavles player were bought before they peaked so we could use them for 4 years then sell them on for massive profits,if only gerry francis was sold by sexton for 500 000 to man utd we could have gone out and bought 4 brilliant player but sexton knew he coul;dnt buy players he just couldnt see a young player who could go on to be a star ,forget palladini hes never been our manager he was just obsessed with getting his beloved qpr into the prem, some of the players comming in have been attrocous but there have also been the greatest siging in the clubs history.......yes NEIL WARNOCK

Great words Mark , there certainly was lots of Darts .
Each of us has our own lists in various orders Weavie , but even though i am one of NW greatest fans i wouldnt put him above Holloway yet , Ollies budget he had to work with was pretty small in comarison to Neils , however if NW gets us promoted and say next year finish between 11th - 16th place and gets us as an established Prem club after 2-3 years then i put him above ollie perhaps.

i give you my word that warnock will hit the fifth spot next season, and will take either a fa cup or the league cup .you need to beilieve a little bit more if you ask qpr report he will back up my claim that i was fighting the palladini corner since 2006,and trust me gianni will never rest untill we take an fa cup at the very least

Forrme Alec Stock and Gordon Jago were our best ever managers. The ground they paved for a future generation was par excellence. With El Tel 3rd.

well i would say that our current qpr side was not really effected by management lets go back to 1965 a little bundle of energy a man who couldnt read or right a gypsey boy from the gregory family, this man was totally obsessed with money and no doubt would have ended up much richer if he didnt have one crazy habbit YES YOUVE GUESSED IT jimmy boy loved his rangers having left the fulham board of directors, because he couldnt get any passion out of them,he joined qpr remembering rodney marsh ,jim langley and bobby keetch he order stock to buy les allen then rodney and the rest is history, knowbody could see a young tallent loike gregory he saw venables play against qpr and took an instant likeing to him and he went on to buy him. having watched bowles play against qpr he knew he could sell rodney and rev invest with the younger bowles if you read that extract from mullery how gregory sent the heavy mob around his house ,you understand that jim was just like brian clough,TO WIN AT ALL COST BUT NEVER WANTED TO BE SECOND so i put the whole of qpr success down to gregory whose family for many years had there barrows situated just off king street in hammersmith, they all knew how to earn a living all right but really THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER JIM GREGORY IT WASNT JUST THE MONEY HE PLOUGHED INTO QPR IT WAS HIS AMAZING STRENGTH HE WAS DYNAMIC in fact i was there thec day a qpr fan offerd to fight jim and he couldnt wait to oblige but it was broken up REST IN PEACE JIM GREGORY YOU WILL ALWAYS BE MR QPR AND I LOVE YOU FOREVER

Jim Gregory was very good at spending his own money. Shame the new generation are not as generous......with their own money.
