By Yann Tear Mar 3 2011 QPR have agreed a fee with Newcastle United for Wayne Routledge. The winger has fitted in seamlessly on his return to Loftus Road as cover for the injured Jamie Mackie and Rangers are keen to keep him next season. But the deal is likely to hinge on Rangers clinching promotion. "I think they've sorted out a realistic figure," said Rs boss Neil Warnock. "I can't give exact details, but I think we've agreed everything with the club should it go ahead. "I don't think there's any rush for either of us. We'd like to sign him, whatever happens, but I imagine it depends on where we end up, because I think Wayne would like to play in the Premier League. If things went wrong for us, then he'd probably go back. "He's got to be enjoying it because of the way he's playing and we're enjoying having him. We'd love to keep him." Warnock added: "I thought he'd do well for us. That's why I chased him for so long and talked to him so many times. Pestered him, in fact. "It can sometimes be difficult coming back to a club, but I told him it was a lot different now and I felt the club was geared up to let him play his best. "I thought we were a solid side and I thought you need players like Wayne to win games and I'm delighted to get him." so, does that mean qpr and wayne have just recently found out that newcastle do not want him back?
If so, then maybe his performances for us will be even greater, as playing in the premiership is his goal.

Liked him as a loan not so keen as a perm....frankly he's flighty and at 26 he's had 8 moves...if we go up then he's at best a stop gap

8 moves tells me he now needs to settle at a club, and the rs are perfect for him, routledge is the type of player who needs to be shown that he is wanted by the club and fans, he has that with us, so there fore we will see the best of him, i for one am happy about this

Should not have sold him in the first place. If Neil had been here there, we wouldn't have.

Should not have sold him in the firts place. If Neil had been here there, we wouldn't have. Casting our minds back to the time of WR's sale; the orange donut was looking like he was going to be linched by a 'loft' posse, with the LR faithful chanting all sorts when he was attending games / demonstrations after matches etc (something that I totally disagreed with).... it looked very much like he was cashing in his chips ready to move on!..... I was extremely concerned that he was to walk away and leave us in the lurch. I honestly think that Neil would have suffered the same fate as all of the previous encumbents, had FB not been caught up in the F1 saga, with the threat of the FA fit and proper test hanging over him. He had to step down, and BE stepped in, thereby giving QPR a steady and businesslike model, that enabled NW to do what he has done.

There was no fit and proper person test hanging over anyone especially from the FA, it was the board, Bernie, that realised the need for a change. So a spurious matey one was made and the orange donut kept a low profile for a while.

Newcastle Journal Live Routledge summer switch on the cards * by Stuart Rayner, The Journal * Mar 4 2011 WAYNE ROUTLEDGE will become a Queens Park Rangers player this summer as long as the Londoners secure promotion. The 26-year-old Newcastle United winger is on loan to the Championship leaders until the end of the season, and manager Neil Warnock says a deal has been struck to make that permanent if the Rs go up. Routledge has played Premier League football for Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur, Portsmouth, Fulham, Aston Villa and Newcastle, but failed to convince at any. He has looked far more comfortable playing at the top end of the Football League.Pivotal in closing out Newcastle’s title win in the second half of last season, he started just 10 top-flight games this term before returning to QPR in January. His performance for United in the FA Cup defeat at Stevenage could be his last. “I think they’ve sorted out a realistic figure,” said Warnock.
“I can’t give exact details, but I think we’ve agreed everything with the club should it go ahead. I don’t think there’s any rush for either of us.
“We’d like to sign him, whatever happens, but I imagine it depends on where we end up, because I think Wayne would like to play in the Premier League.
“If things went wrong for us, he would probably go back.
“He’s got to be enjoying it because of the way he’s playing and we’re enjoying having him. We’d love to keep him.”Routledge has scored twice in eight unbeaten games for QPR, justifying Warnock’s faith. “I thought he’d do well for us,” he commented. “That’s why I chased him for so long and talked to him so many times. Pestered him, in fact. “It can sometimes be difficult coming back to a club, but I told him it was a lot different now and I felt the club was geared up to let him play his best. “I thought we were a solid side and I thought you need players like Wayne to win games.” ... www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2011/03/04/routledge-summer-switch-on-the-cards-61634-28277053/#ixzz1FcbxzPEi

How much did we originally buy him for?
How much did we sell him for?
How much will we pay to get him back?
How much do we lose financially each year?
