Yet another who wasn't treated too well in his departure
BBC - McDonald focused on title run-in
Glentoran manager Alan McDonald said his team's remaining JJB Sports Premiership games will be "cup finals".
The 2-0 victory over Linfield at the Oval on Wednesday night moved the Glens a point clear of the Blues at the top and they also have a game in hand.
"It's a huge result but it is not going to be the be all and end all of this league," said McDonald.
"The games we've left this season will be treated like cup finals and we have to lift ourselves for all of them."
He added: "A couple of weeks ago we were pretty despondent and thought the pendulum had swung against us.
"But we've had two good performances and two good results - last Friday against Dungannon and this win over Linfield.
"And game against Linfield is hard, they are a very good team and they are champions for a reason so thankfully the result went our way."
Linfield boss David Jeffrey believes Glentoran are now favourites to land the Gibson Cup.
"Someone commented to me that we played like the home team with the amount of possession we had and I think that's a fair point," he said.
"But when you are on top you have to score goals and we didn't do that.
"If Glentoran win their game in hand they are four points ahead of us and we have to look at it as if they are indeed four points clear.
"We've got to make sure we don't lose any more points.
"There's a lot of football to be played but I think Glentoran are in the box-seat."
