Goal.com/Danilo Pochini -- Costacurta Finds First Coaching JobFormer Milan legend Alessandro Costacurta has been appointed as new head coach of Serie B side Mantova.
After a lot of rumours surrounding the future of Alessandro Costacurta, who has recently obtained his license to coach, today Serie B side Mantova announced they have signed the 42-year-old former Milan defender as their new boss.
Costacurta, who did not hesitate much to take this job, talked about the reasons behind this decision.
"Mantova are a club which has always fascinated me, the president is young and ambitious," he said during the press conference. "I thank him very much for this chance, because it isn't easy to entrust a Serie B team to a debutant coach. I am full of enthusiasm and optimistic, this Mantova team can fight for something important, that's why I'm convinced of this choice.
"Speaking of tactics, I can say that in general I like a four-man defence and a 4-2-3-1 system would work for me. The important thing is that the team plays with intensity and aggressiveness, and recovers a winning mentality. Among the players I know Locatelli, who I've played with at Milan, and Notari, who is a product of Milan's youth system."
Costacurta was a Milan player for 21 years, between 1986 and 2007, during which he won everything in the game, including 5 Champions Leagues, 7 Serie A titles, and 2 Intercontinental Cups. He also played for Italy at the 1994 and 1998 World Cups, as well as Euro 96.
Mantova are currently in 13th place in Serie B with 13 points, 6 less than leaders Sassuolo-.
