Just posted this on another site and then remembered I mod here so should put it here to!!
This is how I see it....
Flavio choses manager via "friends" or Gianni choses manager thru "contacts"
Gianni has lots of contacts from back in the day, el tel, arry redknapp etc etc. He's a wheeler dealer and knows wheeler dealers.
Personally, I aint interested in any manager who's from the old school - not with our squad - thus, I aint too sure about Giannis contacts (no offence mate ) He'll have a mixture of the old dodgy boys (el tel) and those desperate for a job. When GG went, Big Sam, Mclaren and other useless idiots were on the phone.
OR
We go with Flavios contacts.
Offence meant - I don't trust Flavio as far as I could throw him and anyone he recommends/mates reccomends it's the Italian version of " jobs for the boys"
So stuff that
So what do we do?
Personal opinion - stick with Gaz, get behind him - as i reckon all the players will - trust that even if he's forced to play certain players he'll whip them off if they're doing badly and can justify that.
I'm rooting for Gaz - the other options aren't worth looking at

I agree - Gaz would be the best choice for 1st team coach as it stands.

Flav should make Steve Clarke at West Ham an offer he can't refuse! Clarke will be a top manager in the future. He has worked with some class managers, a hands on owner and under pressure. IMO he would take us up this season.

On Pete's site, someone posted that the betting on the new manager has been halted, suggesting someone's coming, presumably Ainsworth. I hope it's not Ainsworth, for the reasons I've noted elsewhere. And what it suggests about Briatore's plans. Don't people remember the Gary Waddock experience? And Waddock was infinitimally more suited for the position than Ainsworth. (Not that Ainsworth won't ultimately turn out to be a great manager. He might. But migh not. I don't see why QPR have to be the testing ground. Especially with a Briatore being invovled) And I don't fully agree with Scott though I like his analysis Because surely there's a third option: Doesn't have to be someone Paladini or Briatore know. You do a search (hire someone) or seek applications, and see what happens

Presumably we got Dowie through option 1.
Option 2 has brought in Parejo, Alberti, Ledesma, di Carmine and Tomassi.
Option 2 leads the way for me.
However, I am happy with the current status quo but I would worry for Ainsworth if a couple of results go against him.

Don't agree with Scot's analysis at all. The implication that either Briatore or GP are just going to try and bring in any old Joe just doesn't fit with the reality that I'm seeing. Flav wants us to go up. He's no fool and understands that the only way to make money and not lose face with his friend Bernie is for us to go up. I agree with every aspect of that. He wants us to go up for money and ego reasons. I couldn't care less why he wants us to go up. I'm just hungry for the success that has eluded us for the last 30 years. He might bring in the wrong person -- every hiring is a gamble -- but DiCanio was a pretty good call. He's had some success elsewhere and hasn't done wrong by us yet. There is nothing wrong with an Italian manager. If he can bring the club success, then more power to him. I didn't like Dowie as a manager coz I thought it lacked ambition and creativity. I hated the way he was fired, coz I thought it lacked patience. But the bottom line is we have had two great games since then, where we played with determination, steel and character. 4 points from 2 games that most people would have predicted zero. So lets see if Flav can find someone with the flair, know-how and all-round nonce to put us over the top.
We are 7th in the division, have a big cup tie at Old Trafford, have a bunch of exciting young players on the books. Things are looking up!
