Scottish Swimming Welcomes Ali Russell as CEO
Scottish Swimming welcomes the appointment of Ali Russell to the role of Chief Executive Officer for the next six months.
As the former Deputy Managing Director of Queens Park Rangers Football Club, Commercial Director of Heart of Midlothian Football Club and also the Head of Marketing at the Scottish Rugby Union, Russell brings a wealth of experience to Scottish Swimming, with particular expertise in commercialising sport and building strong partnerships.
Speaking at Scottish Swimming’s HQ at the National Swimming Academy, Russell said,
“I am delighted to be joining Scottish Swimming as this is an excellent opportunity to work in one of Scotland’s biggest and most successful governing bodies.
“With London 2012 and Glasgow 2014 uppermost in our minds, I am thoroughly looking forward to the challenge ahead and the many opportunities we can identify in pushing the profile of swimming forward.”
Welcoming Russell to the post, Maureen Campbell (Chair of the Board of Directors, Scottish Swimming) commented,
"I am delighted to welcome Ali to Scottish Swimming. He has excellent business development skills and we look forward to him supporting us over the next six months.
"We have particularly encouraged him to look at opportunities for improving our commercial position and identifying new opportunities to raise the profile of swimming in the build up to London 2012 and Glasgow 2014.”
