It has been said in a number of different places that Dowie lost his job when he refused to drop Dexter Blackstock and start with Di Carmine and Parejo in attack. However, on Saturday's performance, I'd say Dowie was probably right. Our attack was going nowhere with DiCanio and only sparked into life when Dex came on as sub. It was amazing what a difference Dex made.
So, was Dowie right, after all?

Did the fact that Dex was dropped to the bench have the desired effect to give him the proverbial rocket up the ***?, and maybe Di Carmine starting has proved to whoever picked him that Dex is better?

That is a very good point.

Might be nice to see more than sixty minutes of di carmine before judgement. Blackstock has rather a lot more championship experience. What might have been better was blackstock replacing parejo leaving them both up front but that might not have been allowed.
