Mitre Goal of the Year
Posted on: Thu 06 Jan 2011
Last year Gary Alexander's stupendous strike against Sc**thorpe United was short-listed for the Mitre Goal of the Year - and now it's time for Lions fans to get voting again!
The Football League have launched the search to find the Mitre Goal of the Year 2010 and we are asking for your help in deciding which of our goals from the last 12 months should be put forward as our nomination.
We can nominate one goal from any Football League competition in the 2010 calendar year, to include goals scored in the Carling Cup, the npower Football League and the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
We want fans to help us decide our club nomination by selecting your choice from the following top 10 that we have selected:
GOAL A. Shaun Batt v Leeds United (A)
GOAL B. Shaun Batt v Southend United (H)
GOAL C. Tony Craig v Gillingham (H)
GOAL D. Alan Dunne v Walsall (A)
GOAL E. Steve Morison v (Derby County) (H)
GOAL F. Steve Morison v Swindon Town (H)
GOAL G. James Henry v Sc**thorpe United (H)
GOAL H. Theo Robinson v Derby County (H)
GOAL J. Danny Schofield v MK Dons (A)
GOAL K. Danny Schofield v Stockport County (H)
Please put your chosen goal in the in the subject bar ie GOAL A and send to questions@millwallplc.com
If you think we have overlooked your favourite please let us know and we will consider adding it to our list of possible nominations.
We will then select the most popular goal chosen by you, our fans, to send in as our official nomination to the Football League.
Closing date for your votes/nominations for your favourite Millwall goal of 2010 is 5pm Thursday 20th January.
Our nominated goal will then be entered in the Mitre Goal of the Year category at the 2011 Football League Awards, held in association with npower.
In conjunction with viewers and presenters of Soccer AM, the entries will be shortlisted from the 72 club nominations to five goals overall. Watch Soccer AM from early February to take part in the vote. The winner will be decided at the Awards ceremony at The Brewery, London on Sunday 20th March.
Past winners of the Mitre Goal of the Year have been Nicky Maynard (Bristol City - 2010...it should have been Gary just look here to remind yourself why!), Sylvain-Ebanks Blake (Wolverhampton Wanderers - 2009), Jermaine Beckford (Leeds United - 2008), Joe Ledley (Cardiff City - 2007) and Stefan Oakes (Notts County - 2006).
