- Anyone want to defend Briatore (because I have seen a few defenders on other boards). To me it seemly utterly insane. I'm not wild about the Continental approach re buying players; but ok. But if it gets to team selection and tactics. ! A neophyte millionaire thinking he knows more about football than an experienced manager. Find the manager you want and then leave him to it. Crazy, crazy. (And those who think a good result or two is going to mean longer term, success. Crazy.) We all liked Ainsworth...We all liked Waddock. And Waddock was an experienced coach. Liked Wilkins. Liked Frank Sibley. And Les Allen. And so on. [All the stories re Briatore/Dowie can obviously be read at www.qprreport.blogspot.com ]

Whatever system you have, be it a manager system or a head of sports/head coach system the key word to success is stability!
I was very happy when Flav et al took control, if nothing else because even if Flavio is a playboy of the type I utterly despise he seemed to be a shrewd person who knows how to get success.
I just hope he will this time hire someone and then keep him! Actually it might even be ok if the coach has to defend his side to the owners as long as that is the only thing there is to it. But stability is the key, get a coach and let that coach have time to develop his own system, which might take a whole full season!
The current situation is a mess and I am yet again worried about the future of the club.

Well if Mahon keeps talking as he's been doing, I wouldn't have thought he'd have much future under Briatore!

I liked Ainsworth's calmness on Saturday. I think the players were less afraid playing under him. Maybe that's totally wrong.
