The 1968-69 season was a season full of horrors, however there was a rare bright point against this weekends opponents, Ipswich Town: "Rock-bottom Rangers played host to mid-table Ipswich Town as they sought their first victory of the campaign." www.qpr.vitalfootball.co.uk/sitepage.asp?a=144288*If you would prefer me to post the whole article - just say*

Thanks Adam. I REMEMBER that win. Week after week after week at School people mocking QPR...Then this win...and a couple days later another win. And QPR were clearly settling in the Division! And taking just the team from your report: Kelly, Watson, Harris, Keen, Keetch, Hazell, Bridges, Leach, Allen, Wilks, Morgan R.

It's not a bad team really on paper - there are a few omissions that cost us. Would have love to have seen where we would have finished had Marsh got the better of his injuries. That team was really the last of the side that had that majestic rise through the leagues - it was like the end of the era.

If we'd had Marsh from the beginning; bought Terry Venables one season earlier; and a goalkeeping replacement for Springett (basically Springett, Kelly and Spratley played a 1/3 of the season each). And either kept Stock; or hired a real manager to replace him....Throw in a bit of luck. And yes, we could have stayed up. On the other hand, we did have a shinny new Stand built!

Reposting from QPR Report last year Wednesday, October 08, 2008 Forty Year Flashback to QPR's First-Ever Division One Win- Forty Ago Today: October 8, 1968 - QPR, FINALLY, WIN In Division One... QPR - after two months and twelve games without a win (five draws and seven losses) in what was then known as the First Division (including a humiliating 0-4 home defeat against Chelsea)..newly-promoted QPR finally won their first-ever Division One game. In a midweek game at Loftus Road (at a time, when QPR always played their midweek games on Tuesdays), QPR beat Ipswich 2-1. Barry Bridges and Roger Morgan scoring for QPR. QPR's team against Ipswich: Mike Kelly: Alan Harris - Tony Hazell- Bobby Keetch - Ian Watson Mike Keen - Roger Morgan - Les Allen Mick Leach - Barry Bridges - Alan Wilks [Three days later, QPR defeated Sheffield Wednesday 3-2 at Loftus Road, with Wilks, Bridges and Leach scoring, and QPR seemed to be surging. (Unfortuantely QPR lost their next 3 games 3-2 at Newcastle 3-2 at home to Man United and 3-4 at West Ham...and in fact won only two other games the rest of the season as they were relegated with a then record-lowest number of points in the First Division: 18 points!) qprreport.blogspot.com/2008/10/forty-year-flashback-to-qprs-first-ever.html

One man does not make a team. A fit Marsh from the start of the season would have kept us up.
