Here on www.football-league.co.uk we've got our very own advent calendar!Each day we are featuring one picture from our archives relating to wintery weather or the festive season so make sure you check back each day to see the latest image.
Today's photo shows Queens Park Rangers making the best of the snowy conditions for training around the terraces of Loftus Road in January 1962 (note the players in the background throwing snowballs...).
The players were understandably in jubilant mood having just beaten Torquay United 6-0 at home a few days earlier. Under manager Alec Stock, the R's were gaining a reputation for attacking football and scoring goals - the six against Torquay contributed to 129 goals in 52 matches that season. They would eventually however just miss out on promotion from Division Three that season, finishing 4th, with Portsmouth and Grimsby Town going up
Among the QPR players that season was their record appearance maker, defender Tony Ingham, who after having signed from Leeds United in the 1950's went on to make over 500 first team appearances for the Hoops.
QPR themselves would remain in Division Three for five more seasons, before Stock took them up as Champions in 1967, the same season they famously became the first 3rd Division side to win the League Cup in a classic match against West Bromwich Albion at Wembley.
