Very different from a year ago, when the whole squad was taken off to Portugal for a week, and the players were given 3,000 pound watches

that three nil loss to Palermo did it. flav wanted a win there?? I presume this was in jest but was told today that it was in fact our inability to beat the Italian sides that led to him losing his job

Hope not!
One win. One narrow loss. One convincing loss. I'd say the team did as well as expected.
Let's see who they appoint as replacement to see how focused they are on the youth team. Gallen who Paladini allowed Gregory to act was supposedly highly qualified. I don't think it's one indivudual to blame

So when will we find out the truth? It's been five days since the article. Can't be true obviously, the official site isn't that slow shirley?

According to Steve Russell on the Indys site "Keith Ryan took the U18's yesterday." And the guys running the Indys site, are pretty involved with what's happening with the youngsters.
So if this is what's said (and it's not been denied anywhere - even on the other sites), if someone asked me to bet: Is Brown there or has Brown gone? I'd imagine he's gone. (But I have no independent information)

Don't know - haven't asked - but, like you say, the indyrs guys have always been keen supporters of the youth (fair play on that front) so, I trust SR is probably right on this one. No doubt, if true, he's on "gardening leave" so will be listed for a month..tis what happened to me..I've only just been taken down off my companies website

And an Official Site Match Report of the U-18s. No mention of any changes; just quoting QPR coach Keith Ryan... QPR Official Site - UNDER-18'S BLUNT DAGGERSPosted on: Mon 23 Feb 2009 Rangers Under-18's returned to League action for only the second time this year with a 2-1 victory over Dagenham & Redbridge on Saturday. Following the disappointment of an early exit from the Coppa Carnevale a week earlier, the R's young-guns were keen to prove that their challenge for a third successive Puma Youth Alliance League title was not going to be easily derailed, as they put their opponents under pressure from the start. Inside the first two minutes, Josh Parker (pictured) carved out a chance for himself, cutting in from the right only to see his low drive strike the far post and rebound to safety. Rangers continued to press forward and had strong claims for a penalty turned down on 20 minutes when Christian Nanetti was brought down in the box, but the referee saw no foul and waved play on. The R's were finally rewarded for their positive start just after the half hour mark, when a slick passing move orchestrated by Danny Davenport in midfield set the lively Parker off down the right wing again. This time, the winger's pin-point cross found Andrew Perring, who headed home from eight yards for his second goal of the season. Rangers maintained their high tempo at the start of the second half and Antonio German doubled the visitors lead five minutes after the break. A fast break down the left wing resulted in the striker scrambling home his tenth goal of the campaign from close range. Ten minutes from time, the Daggers reduced the deficit from the penalty spot, but the R's were never in danger of giving up the three points, which still keep them hot on the heels of leaders Rushden & Diamonds. "It was nice to get back to league action," Keith Ryan told www.qpr.co.uk." The trip to Italy was a great experience and we were all disappointed not to have progressed to the knock-out stages, but at some stage we were coming home and knew we had to adapt back to our more accustomed style of play.
"I tried not to change anything and hoped that the players would hit the ground running and get us back on track immediately. We started very brightly and despite the poor pitch we coped very well with their tactics which were obviously designed to try to make it as difficult for us as possible. "The last ten minutes were all about us not losing the game - we'd won the first 80 minutes and we were all determined that the hard work we had put in up to that stage would not be thrown away." www.qpr.co.uk/page/YouthReports/0,,10373~1566676,00.html

Slightly off-topic - great to see German scoring again...sounds a hot little prospect!
On-topic, I said a few weeks ago that staff and players were being culled due to £ issues...maybe this is related? If so, that's disgusting, considering how much Brown would likely be on in comparison to players. But, it's all guess work - like I said, probably won;t hear anything for a month (or however long his notice period is)

Very much doubt it has anything to do with costs. He probably gets paid less per year than Borrowdale gets per month.
