This is South Devon Robins may out-bid Daggers in pursuit of Elliot Benyon LEAGUE ONE Swindon Town are the latest club to be linked with Torquay United's leading scorer Elliot Benyon. Swindon, one of the few lower division clubs with the financial clout to afford Benyon, are believed to have bid for the 23-year-old Gulls striker. And they may press on if they are in danger of losing their own free-scoring forward Charlie Austin. Robins boss Danny Wilson is known to admire Benyon, who has scored ten goals this season after last night. United's League Two rivals Southend United are also interested. The latest news follows Dagenham & Redbridge's initial approach for Benyon last week. Dagenham's first bid of around £40,000 was turned down. But Swindon, and probably Southend, may be able to afford nearer to United's valuation, which is thought to be nearer to £75,000. Any deal must be a loan now, to be completed by tomorrow's 5pm deadline, with the fee agreed for a permanent transfer in January. www.thisissouthdevon.co.uk/sport/Robins-bid-Daggers-pursuit-Benyon/article-930083-detail/article.html

Sounds unlikely, I guess Swindon Official Site Three is the magic number for Austin Posted on: Thu 25 Nov 2010 Swindon Town striker Charlie Austin is hoping to help fire his side to victory as they prepare to take on Crawley Town on Friday evening with a place in the FA Cup third round at stake. Austin, who scored on his debut FA Cup appearance for Swindon in the 4-0 win at Plymouth Argyle in the first round, is hoping for another positive performance on Friday evening. "The Crawley game is a big one for Swindon and we want to go there, put on a decent performance and come away with the victory," Austin said, speaking to Swindontownfc.co.uk after training on Thursday afternoon. "This could be the turning point of our season because getting to the third round would be a real lift for everybody." The striker, who has 11 goals to his name so far this term, insists his side are not taking their opponents lightly with Crawley currently top of the Blue Square Premier division. "It will be a tough game, we know that. They will be a decent side but hopefully we can get the better of them and do enough to get through to Sunday's draw. "The first goal will be important so if we can get ourselves ahead and then push on then we will have a great chance of progressing." Swindon made it to the third round stage during the 2009/10 season with a trip to face Premier League side Fulham, although Austin wasn't a part of the Town squad that day. "It would be great to make the third round," said the striker. "I wasn't able to play against Fulham in the third round last year as I was cup-tied so to get to round three this season would be fantastic." www.swindontownfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10341~2230071,00.html
