Now what i dont understand is, if Bernie bought flav's shares months ago, why is flav still mouthing off to a mag saying his dream is to replace NW with Marcello Lippi if we get to the prem. Surly the fat orange turd now has no say in the running of our club...........things still dont seem right. I see those comments as nothing more than a way of getting himself into the Italian papers to be able to also mention that he was not found guilty of tax evasion over his yacht being available for charter. The brilliantly preposterous, carry on-esque boat chase by the Italian police got a lot of coverage but the outcome of the trial was in his favour and that got no coverage so he needed an attention grabber to get column inches in the Italian press so he could also get the fact that for a change he was found innocent which he mentions further down in the same interview after the Lippi comment. He uses QPR FC to enhance his celebrity status, the Z-listers in the C Club for 3 games at the start of his tenure being the best example of it over here for our press. Those were throwaway remarks and not worth giving much thought to in my opinion. Much like Ecclestone's comments which are a regular feature of any interview with him, mainly the product of both a strange sense of humour, a vindictive nature and the desire to never give anything away in the press, as with Ecclestone you only find out what he's up to after he's done it.

Another Bernie throw away. Bernie Ecclestone might want to work on his apologies. It seemed the Formula One president and CEO had seen the error of his words about women racing with men when he called Danica Patrick over the weekend, presumably to apologize. But then he repeated his comments. Ecclestone made news last week with his comments made in response to Patrick's fourth-place finish at the Indianpolis 500. Asked about Patrick's success, Ecclestone acknowledged her strong finish, but then made an assessment about women racing with men that caused a stir, saying, "You know I've got one of those wonderful ideas ... women should be dressed in white like all the other domestic appliances." On Saturday, Patrick received a phone call from Ecclestone, in which he complimented her on her performance at the Indy 500. But Ecclestone caught Patrick off guard when he repeated to her his statement about women and "domestic appliances." "I just didn't make sense of it," Patrick said during an IRL teleconference this week. "I was surprised, I guess, somebody would say that to me. And the days after, when it actually came out in the press, people were asking me 'What do you think of that?' "I was like, 'You know what he told me? He said that on the phone.'" Patrick said some of Ecclestone's comments were positive and complimentary, which made the exchange more perplexing. "I can't believe that he would say it to me over the phone, not to my face, but directly to me," she said. "I was a bit confused. ... So I don't really know what to think about it. "I don't know if he was talking about someone else or the majority or what, I'm not really sure. Or, maybe that's his real feeling. "If that's the case, then you know, [it] doesn't really matter because I'm racing in the Indy Racing League." Last month, Patrick became the first woman to lead a lap at the Indianapolis 500. She finished fourth, the best finish by a female in the 89-year history of the race. Ecclestone has garnered attention before for comments on women in racing. The 74-year-old told Autosport racing magazine in Feb. 2000 that women would never excel in Formula One. He added that if a woman did make it, "she would have to be a woman who was blowing away the boys. ... What I would really like to see happen is to find the right girl, perhaps a black girl with super looks, preferably Jewish or Muslim, who speaks Spanish." sports.espn.go.com/rpm/news/story?series=irl&id=2092194

After his expensive divorce, how wealthy is Ecclestone these days? Enough to splash heavily on QPR?

True nothing's been announced, Monday. But in the aftermath of Finney's post, we now "know" re Ecclestone's increased financial involvement...And we now see (once again) the club's effort to dissimulate or at least leave us with a false impression or who was truly in charge.
"Oh. But it doesn't matter. All that matters is what's on the field." Well some believe this - and some seek to push this line.
The concept of openess and not seeking to leave misleading impressions still seems to have some way to go.

Makes Gianni's March 2010 Interview more in context SM Interview (for which he took "some" heat!) "....Looking at the change in ownership now, what kind of owners do you foresee the Mittals as? They are very keen to build relationships with the supporters. Ishan and Amit want to see Loftus Road full next season, and they are in discussions about how they can make season tickets more affordable and attractive to supporters. They will open up the paths of communication between fans, and this will become clear over the course of the season. This will be a very happy club under their ownership. They have big things planned for us now. The club is in fantastic hands. What are your first impressions of Ishan Aksena? He is a very nice lad; he has been a close friend of Amit for a long time. I think that they went to school with each other as well, but it’s great to have him on board with us. He has learnt a lot about QPR in the small amount of time he has been here already. He is a little too good looking for my liking though! So what percentage of QPR is owned by the Mittal’s? Does Flavio have any say? I can’t discuss the percentages. The Mittal’s have the final say on all matters now. Flavio does still hold a stake in QPR, and we shouldn’t forget that he is the one that came in and saved this club when it was on its knees. It’s important to remember. But yes the Mittal’s are now running the club. What about our debt situation? Are there major debts owned to other parties? This is not something we need to be concerned about. The Mittal’s have all this in hand. Any loss we make is easily sustainable by them, and the passion that they have for QPR is enormous. No fan needs to worry about debts. Like I said before, the club is in fantastic hands. .. qprreport.blogspot.com/2010/03/gianni-paladini-interviews-two.html

So what happened to this nailed on announcement? Err what nailed on announcement? It was never an announcement and it's safe to say it happened. Bernie's involvement is as described. he is also as involved with the board as he always has been.

But after Finney reported it, then the "ITKs" started saying they'd known. Maybe they had. But they hadn't announced this to the plebs.
