QPR poised to beat Newcastle in chase for Norway winger By talkSPORT Wednesday, November 10 0 commentsQPR are hoping to beat Newcastle in the race to sign Norwegian winger Petter Vaagan Moen. Moen, 26, has been a star performer for his club side SK Brann and is looking for a move to England. The Norwegian international is out of contract in December and becomes a free agent when the transfer window re-opens in January. Newcastle have been keeping tabs on the talented winger, but reports in Norway suggest that QPR are the favourites to clinch his signature.

Haven't been this excited about us signing an international since Nick Ward And incoming around the same time as Nick Ward: "Cameroon International, Armel Tchakounte" (Try and find the Internationals he played!) May 4, 2007:QPR Official Site - ARMEL ARRIVESCameroon international Armel Tchakounte has put pen to paper on a one year deal with the Hoops. The 27 year-old, who trained with Rangers during the latter part of the season, today (Thursday) penned a one year deal - with an option of a second year - at Loftus Road. Armel, whose previous clubs include Kitchee FC (Hong Kong), is a right footed, defensive midfielder, with great physical skills, high stamina and bags of experience in the top leagues in Africa and Asia. "It's a dream come true to sign for an English club like QPR,'' Armel told qpr.co.uk. "I really enjoyed my time training with the team during the last few weeks of the season and am glad I was rewarded with a contract. "QPR are a big club and I'm really looking forward to playing at Loftus Road for the first time and helping the team next season.'' Hoops Caretaker Manager Gary Waddock was delighted to secure his second signing in as many hours, commenting: "Armel shone in training and will be a huge addition to this football club. "He's a big, strong, powerful lad with great energy and will be a key player for us next season.'' Chairman Gianni Paladini believes the Hoops' latest signing will prove to be a firm favourite with the Rangers fans. "He can run all day and has a never-say-die attitude. He will be a tremendous signing. "Gary was really impressed with him in the three weeks he spent with us towards the end of last season and coupled with the other players we hope to bring in over the summer, we're really optimistic about the future.''

Yes, Petter has him self confirmed that he has signed a 2 1/2 year contract with QPR to TV2. www.tv2sporten.no/fotball/tippeligaen/vaagan-moen-klar-for-qpr-3339750.htmlShort summary: QPR has followed Petter close the past 6 months and quite a few from QPR have seen him play. Which made the decision easier for Petter. They have been in a dialog for quite a time, but it was only today that he finally signed. There has been clubs from the topp seiris in Germany and the Netherlands who have shown interess as well. He feels that QPR is the right place for him and is looking forward to challange for a spot in the team and help it in it's chase for promotion. He will play in the centeral midfield role or right behind the forward. He is very excited to have signed for a big club like QPR with it's respected rich history. Well that was a little summary. You already know that I'm sceptical to this signing. I see that quite a few of the Norwegian supporters are excited. So I hope they are right and that he will be a sucess in this great club that we all love. Thorstein

Is he anywhere near as good as Pedersen? He is a quality player that i've admired for a few years now, surprised he's still with Blackburn.
He does need to learn how to break Barton's leg though.

I agree, let's wait for the official, but like we also know. They are not always the fastest to get the story out there Cpr, Petter has a left foot simillar to Pedersen, but has only taken the step up to the lime light of the national team this year where as Pedersen did this for some years ago now. He's pretty good at set pieces and has a fairly good shot whch he has shown this year with his 14 league goals. Works hard though.

Still slightly a strange deal...Given that not available till Jan.
Hope it's not a harbinger of what our Lanuary Transfer window deals will look like
ANd of course, hope it's Warnock's deal all the way through

Pedersen was phenomenal i think it was season 08-09 i remember because i had him in my fantasy team the whole year ! Last year struggled for while , dont know if the system was changed there! But looks good again this year ! Like CPR said fantastic player especially set pieces ! I watched Rommedahl a feww times at Charlton as my neighbour was a charlton fan. He always rated him , believe he still plays for the national team , wasnt he one of the ones that played well in the world cup ,remember he scored at least one goal !

That's right. Pedersen seams to have found back to his old form after Egil "Drillo" Olsen has taken over the national team again. He had a bad spell with the national team before that and struggled a bit in Balckburn as well in the same period. He was often booed off at the games at Ullevall in Norway, but is now back to being cheered Rommedahl was like u said playing for Denmark in the world cup. Not sure if his stil in it now or if he retiered from the National team after the world cup. I think Rommedahl has better technique than both Pedersen and Vaagan Moen, but they have other strengths. I belive more norwegian supporters will join now that there, most likely, will be a norwegian at LR. U just have to cope with it And finally, "we" (QPR) will have some more publisity in the norwegian media.

Luckily the Brann website does an English translation www.brann.no/english/vaagan-moen-ready-for-qpr/Petter Vaagan Moen leaves Brann on a free transfer after five seasons in the club. Av: Erlend YndestadPhoto: ScanpixPublisert: 11.11.10 22:09SEND PÅ E-POSTDELETWITTERFACEBOOKMYSPACERSS The contract between Brann and club's topscorer in 2010 expires at the end of the year, and Petter can leave the club with no transfer fee. Vaagan Moen does say that it is with a heavy heart and lots of gratitude he leaves the club. - I am very grateful for what I have been allowed to be a part of here in Bergen and I owe a lot to Brann. But when the best club in the english Championship wants to sign me, I just couldn't say no, says Petter Vaagan Moen to Brann.no. - Not even if Brann made you a better offer? - I would like to emphasize that I received a generous offer from Brann, and I think they would have increased it as well had I asked them to. But this was not about money. This was about grabbing an opportunity and making the most of my carreer. A footballing carreer is short, Petter points out. The 26-year old from Hamar, left for London wednesday morning and has undergone the medical examination. On thursday he signed the contract with Queens Park Rangers. - Things have gone smoothly over here and I have signed a two and a half year contract with QPR, he confirms. Vaagan Moen has always been a very ambitious player, and he believs that his carreer will get a boost from moving to London and British football. - I always like to go to the next level. I know what my goals are, and I think QPR is the right club for me now. You will always be taking a risk when you leave a club where you have had success, but I am willing to take that risk. My goal is to have a strong influence in our matches and of course being selected for the Norwegian natioan squad, says Petter. Brann's head coach Rune Skarsfjord thanks Petter for his efforts for Brann and wishes him the best of luck. - Petter has been a very good player and a great person to work with. We understand that this is the right choice for him now, and we wish him success, says Skarsfjord to Brann.no. Petter Vaagan Moen ends his Brann-carreer after 158 matches and 35 goals. The last fourteen goals have come in the 2010-season when Petter also was selected as Player of the Year by the Brann-supporters. Vaagan Moen came to Brann from Ham-Kam before the 2006-season, and won the league with Brann in 2007.

Wikipedia doesn't count. I could add Beckham's name to the QPR Squad on Wikipedia! I've internalized: If it's not on the QPR Official Site, it doesn't really count! Which Official site is that Mac?
