Again I confess to not having heard of him.PFA's Give Me Football ON This Day, September 27.... 1951 Don Mills Don Mills, Cardiff City’s popular midfield player, is transferred to Leeds United for £12,000. From 1946, when he first appeared in League soccer with Queens Park Rangers, until 1962 when he retired, he was one of the most consistent players in the game. With great ball control, deceptive feints, accuracy of distribution, and the ability to ‘read’ a game and thus dictate its progress, he was an outstanding player whom sports journalists at every level racked their brains for new adjectives to describe. The ‘Mills Bomb’ was a favourite headline to describe his impact. Eventually, after two years with Leeds, Torquay United paid their highest transfer fee for him and he played out his career there, eventually joining their coaching staff. Don played in 464 League games and scored 96 goals, three goals in the FA Cup and one in the League Cup which enabled him to reach 100 in first class football. He was recently voted as the ‘Greatest Player ever to play for Torquay United’ in the Football League Hall of Fame. Don spent a few years on the ‘Gulls’ coaching staff and later became a traffic warden in the town. He died in February 1994. www.givemefootball.com/premier-league/on-this-day-in-history-september-27

Well, he was good but not sure I remember him as being such class, still, he was sold off as so many of our good players were. Anyway, he was the cousin of Freddie Mills who became the World Light-Heavyweight champion.
But who knows what other player of ours came from a boxing family? Clue, prominently involved in QPR silverware. No not the 1900 Charity Shield, but Mark Lazarus, out of Stepney where you fight for your life. He had at least one brother who was a boxer.
