Coventry boss Aidy Boothroyd has admitted for the first time he may sign Marlon King.

Striker King, 30, is available on a Bosman after leaving jail last week following his sacking by Premier League Wigan Athletic.

King was freed early after being sentenced to 18 months last October for sexually assaulting and causing actual bodily harm to a woman in December 2008.

King now intends to resume his professional career imminently and has Coventry and QPR vying for his signature.

Sky Blues manager Boothroyd was initially cool on the prospects of linking up again with his former Watford striker King.

But Boothroyd said yesterday: "I have spoken to him.

"I think we are still a couple of players away from how I would like it and I would expect us to add a couple more before the deadline.

"I am sure in the next few weeks Marlon will make a decision on where he wants to play and I am sure at some time or another me and him will have a sit down.

"I am sure he will ask my opinion because we have a relationship from those times at Watford."

Coventry host Portsmouth tomorrow in their first game of the Championship season

Marlon King was released from prison last week Former Premier League footballer Marlon King has said "he will fight tooth and nail" to overturn his conviction for sexually assaulting a woman in a club.

King was jailed for 18 months after being convicted of sexually assaulting and punching the 20-year-old woman in the face and breaking her nose.

The former Wigan Athletic player, who claimed he was the victim of mistaken identity, was freed last week.

"I'm not trying to paint myself as an angel but I am no sex beast," he said.

I like how he says he has all the evidence, including CCTV to prove he is innocence, yet the courts found him guilty? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Where was the evidence during the trial then?

He's obviously welcome to appeal, etc. If per chance, he's innocent, let's hope he's acclaimed as innocent. And if he was guilty, let's hope, that his guilt is accepted

Well some would call it good business i would say that Queen's Park Rangers once proud standing as a family club which has taken a beating in the last few seasons, will if true now send that thinking to hell in a handcart.
