Weavie posted in another thread Re: Video: Clive Allen's Goal vs West Ham; and I didn't want to make a nice video thread become hijacked.

I will certainly consider carefully what you say. If you're saying this site could be "spiced up" - well sure it could. But at what cost to the integrity of the site?
Let's put it this way: I obviously may (and do) regret invidual messgageboard postings I've made over the past decade. And some of the fights I've had with some people (with many of whom, I've since made up; or we've moved on)
But for the most part; for most of my threads: I stand by what I originally posted. But that of course doesn't mean I have to refight those battles. - Or that this site should be the forum for some free expression of anti-other posters views.
It's obviously always easy to be provocative; but doing that just for the sake of it is not something I'm interested in. Now if there's something I feel deeply about, or believe deeply - and it goes against the majority of views, so be it.
And it's often tempting to respond in kind to some inane (or worse) comment I may have read on another site - or in fact to much of what I may have read on another site; but all things being equal, I'd rather not. (But of course may sometimes slip off the wagon).
And I don't think that's what people are interested in; or what this site, potentially can offer. It's certainly not hard for me to pose "provocative" questions; and it's certainly not hard for me to find things to say. But if I'm looking for general messageboard "role models," it's Clive Whittingham's LoftforWords and Battletank's .org and Drew Garro's org and Ron Norris and Simon Skinner's QPRnet and the old LSA in how they ran their sites. And how they generally conducted themselves - Even if I may have had fights with many of them.
But what am absolutely certain of:
This is not going to be a site where posters come on and post seriously - but find themselves subject to personal abuse or mockery.
This is not going to be a site where anti-Semitic inuendos (or worse) are permitted.
It's not going to be a site, where there's a stated code of conduct which is not adhered to.
It's not going to be a site, where there are different rules of conduct depending on who is the poster; and what is the subject of the post.
So no controversy, just for the sake of controversy. But honesty in everything I post and I'll never deliberately post anything false, or make up anything on this site - not in an attempt to be funny; not to attract posters. There may be errors in posts; copy and pasted stories may be inaccurate. But none will be deliberate.
Now having said that, I'm sure there are additional things I could do.
So thanks again Weavie: And where are those 500 additional posters?
