Posted on: Fri 04 Jun 2010
Bees Manager Andy Scott has today completed the signing of former Gillingham goalkeeper Simon Royce to become part of his coaching staff.
The 38 year old custodian has the experience of over 400 league games behind him and will be an integral part of Andy`s backroom team as full time Goalkeeping coach.
On joining the Club Simon said: "I`m absolutely delighted to be joining Brentford and in particular to work with Andy Scott who I consider to be one of the brightest young managers in the League. It`s a great opportunity for me as I start to wind down my playing career and start a new chapter in my life. Particularly so at a club who obviously share my ambition for success."

Andy Scott "Over the past two seasons we have been fortunate enough to have had Steve Smith working with our Goalkeepers on a part time basis. Following the end of the season I wanted to try and bring on board a dedicated goalkeeper coach to concentrate on the full time aspects of coaching. With this in mind I would like to place on record my gratitude for Steve's commitment to us over that period and thank him for his undoubted efforts on behalf of Brentford Football Club. Simon offers me the chance to enhance my coaching staff and fills a role that will grow ever more important as we strive to progress the football club. Simon is an infectious character who will be a great addition to our staff, whilst he will also be registered as a player his ambition for success and desire to be a respected coach were obvious from our very first conversation and I have every confidence he will fit in with the small but dedicated team of backroom staff that we already have at the Club."
