Nor Tommy Langley either, however, Steve Wicks, Dave Webb & John Hollins were. Mick Fillery was underrated but useful. and of course Wilkins, the player, was supurb for us.

Just watched a video from QPR-DVD-COPY-SHOP.CO.UK and Gavin, QPR beating Chelski in 1978/79 3-1 at Shamford bridge. What a friggen disgrace that ground and pitch were. Today the ref would have cacelled the game. Not too many plastic fans around.... not too many fans around full stop.

After winning that game, 3-1, goal scorers, Goddard, Roeder & Busby, QPR, went 9 games before their next win. Eventually they were relegated with Birmingham & Chelsea.

If I recall at all correctly, that was the game after Clive Allen made his debut, scoring as a sub...And around that time - Just before or just after, we sold Phil Parkes for a record 565,000 pounds. (BAD DEAL FOR QPR - It turned out!)

Actually before that win, QPR, had only 1 win in 20 League matches, which had coincided with the sale of Phil Parkes to West Ham, for 565,000 pounds a record for a British, keeper. With only 4 games of the season left, the Manager Steve Burtenshaw gave Clive Allen his debut, against Coventry, and he started his career with a hat-trick.
