Coppell being announced today (according to press). I wouldn't have minded at all Coppell being QPR Manager - although you get the feeling that to deal with "people" still at the club, it's good to have a hard man like Warnock there! I'd take Coppell over Warnock all day long. Totally agree, he's younger, more successful and he was free....but hey I'm happy with Warnock if he's going to be in charge

I wonder how Roy Keane would go here now? Still if Colin gets the chance to show what he can do, then so be it. hopefully he will be given a few months of next season to do his job.

I'd take Coppell over Warnock all day long. Agree completely although thats not to denigrate Neil Warnock, I like Neil Warnock & think that he is a step up for Rangers. Steve Coppell however is an absolutely fantastic manager, the list of young players who have come through at the various clubs under his watch is truly astounding, one of the great English Managers without question. Bristol City will be a play off proposition with him at the helm, no doubts about that whatsoever.

The former Manchester United footballer and England star has signed a 12-month rolling contract to become the club's new manager. Keith Millen will be his assistant, although - as previously announced - he will remain in caretaker charge for the final two matches of the 2009/10 season against Derby and Blackpool. PLAYER: Steve Coppell video exclusive PLAYER: Steve Lansdown video exclusive PLAYER: Keith Millen video exclusive Steve, 54, was unveiled at an Ashton Gate news conference today but will not be in attendance for the club's final two matches of the season due to a long-standing family engagement. Chairman Steve Lansdown told bcfc.co.uk: "I'm delighted that Steve has agreed to become the new manager of Bristol City FC. "Steve arrives with a track record and pedigree that shows the ambition this football club has. We're aiming to play at the highest possible level. "I'd also like to thank Keith Millen for all the hard work he has put in over the past seven games and I'm pleased he will continue to work with the first-team as assistant manager. Keith was also key in bringing Steve to Ashton Gate. "I think we now have a very strong management team to take this football club forward." Steve's playing career consisted of spells with Tranmere Rovers and Manchester United, along with 42 caps for his country. In management the Liverpudlian has won promotions with Crystal Palace - twice - and Reading. He also took Palace to an FA Cup final against Manchester United in 1990. Makes one wonder...A Coppell appointment instead of Magilton (or in place of Hart/Harford)....Turn 4 losses into wins, and QPR are where Blackpool are.
Surprising that people who care so much about QPR didnt appoint perhaps the best person available. And rather appointed someone who it would be hard to believe truly was the best person available!
