or not www.portugoal.net/PortAbroad0809/200901111-Cypriot-Doping-Mystery.htmPortuGOAL rectification It was reported on this site on Friday that several players and staff of Cypriot club APOP Kyniras, among them Portuguese striker Bruno Vasconcelos and Frenchman Samir Bengeloun, had been charged with doping by the football authorities in Cyprus. It has subsequently emerged that all the individuals originally implicated returned negative results in doping tests. PortuGOAL.net apologises for conveying the erroneous information. Joaquim Evangelista, head of the Portuguese Footballers Union, told the Lusa Agency, “It is important that it is clarified that Vasconcelos was targeted for two anti-doping control tests and was found to be clean in both of them. The Cypriot Football Federation has issued an official document stating as much.” Strong Bengeloun denial Meanwhile 23-year-old French player Samir Bengeloun, and his agent Mme BA Soukeyna, both contacted PortuGOAL to set the record straight. Bengeloun told us that like Vasconcelos and all of the other players and staff involved in the case, he has been found to be completely free of any doping offence. The Frenchman admitted the whole episode and the fact the news was widely reported has mystified everyone at the club.
