Posted on: Thu 08 Jan 2009The Football League are pleased to announce that there will once again be a Mitre Goal of the Year category at the 2009 Football League Awards, incorporating FourFourTwo's Top 50 Football League Players. The Football League is asking Clubs to nominate one goal from any Football League competition in the 2008 calendar year, to include goals scored in the Carling Cup and the Coca Cola Football League. We want fans to help us decide our Club nomination by e-mailing us YOUR nomination for QPR Goal of the Year. All nominations need to be received by Monday 19th January; we will then collate the nominations and put them to a Club panel for final selection. The winning goal will then be submitted to the Football League. And the Winner is.... GOAL OF 2008 RESULT Martin Rowlands' goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday 6th December received the most votes in our Goal of 2008 competition.This goal has now been put forward to represent QPR in the Mitre Goal of the Year category at the 2009 Football League Awards. Rowlands' stunning strike earned the R's a 1-0 win over the table-toppers, in a match which was beamed out to a live audience of millions on Sky Sports.
