John Trewick StatementPosted on: Mon 08 Mar 2010 I have been relieved of my duties as manager of Hereford United with immediate effect during an amicable meeting with Graham Turner.
I was given the reasons behind the decision which I understand and accept. The most important thing to me is the continued Football League status of Hereford United. I have invested too much time at the club to see it jeopardised. This season was always going to be a time of readjustment and stabilisation. After a poor start and inconsistent results the season turned out just as difficult and challenging as I thought it might be following relegation last season. However, with over a quarter of the season remaining, Hereford United Football Club are 11 points clear of the relegation zone. I don't believe given all the recent circumstances that too much more could have been achieved. I sincerely hope with Graham Turner taking over it instills the all round belief that the club can finish in a more comfortable position. Eat your heart out, Flavio... The Times March 8, 2010
John Trewick sacked by Hereford United Graham Turner sacked John Trewick from his role as Hereford United manager today but did not have to look far for a replacement: Turner appointed himself.
Turner, the Coca-Cola League Two club's chairman, was previously manager at Edgar Street between 1995 and 2009. He handed the reins to Trewick in the summer following the club's relegation but this season Hereford have struggled again and are eighteenth, 11 points clear of the drop zone. Last month they lost 5-0 to Notts County and Trewick's final game was last Saturday's 2-0 home defeat by Macclesfield Town. Trewick issued a statement via the club's official website. “I was given the reasons behind the decision which I understand and accept," he said. "The most important thing to me is the continued Football League status of Hereford United. I have invested too much time at the club to see it jeopardised.
