Yes Mike, I have always love that song and agreed with most of the words.
cpr - one of the reasons I really don't want to get into batting q and as is in my experience whatever I say shall be answered with more questions that doesn't end. But in good faith, and I hope you will treat it that way instead of imagining I am trying to make a case here, I shall do my best.
I think Mark's main question was what exactly is Gianni's role. Now forgive me but my meal with Gianni was neither an interview nor me trying to catch up on gossip. But I was left with the impression he would be around for some time, as has now been mentioned elsewhere, and that he would be more or less in the same role he has been in before, without the title of DoF. Ie. he would continue to be Chairman of the football club and carry out the duties that are involved in that role.
That's about all I know though. And your last rejoinder was quite right. I have not spoken to the Chairman of Holdings about it and so I know no more than anyone else.

Gianni just has a normal work contract..thats all. he could be here a year, 5 years, 10 years, 2 weeks. Just to lay this to bed. That lays nothing to bed Scott. However, it does confirm that Gianni is here until 2013, FACT, is in fact not a FACT at all, as we have said, thank you.

Thank you for your reply Nico, so none of us are any the wiser then really, no matter.
Scott, thanks for your reply, he led you up the garden path recently as you know so be careful what you believe or say on his behalf.
As for the new board, I agree with you Scott, hence he is no longer Sporting Director. Remember also, it isn't just me that has been saying Gianni held the title oe of QPR FC chariman since the takeover. It is also not just me that acknowledged it was rendered meaningless by the takeover and the board of the holding company.
I thank you.

I am not sure there was ever a ban as such Scott, but nobody ever told me. So I can't know if it's lifted either. But I shall be back soon, god willing, in the upper loft. Can't make this particular Saturday so happy birthday (you missed mine) and drinks some other time
cpr - for a long time now Gianni has been chairman of the football club. Before Antonio was Chairman of Holdings, then Flavio, now the new guy. Ultimately, as controller of the purse strings, chairman of holdings has always been more powerful than chairman of FC. To that extent, I'm not sure anything has changed apart from the control of holdings.

Scott, It's healthy to question every appointment and only a fool would do otherwise. None of them have any experience in the football business and Amit has even admitted they've made mistakes. Lets not forget you made similar comments about Briatore when he first came in, these blokes don't do failure etc., before your flit to Team Amit. Even Nico who had the inside track thought Briatore would be great for the club before his very public falling out. One way they could start to win over fans like myself, who think actions speak louder than words, would be to sort out their woeful communications team, PR and actually engage the fanbase. Until then, I'll still be questioning everything.

So Gp is best at doing the deals on players? So that is why our wage bill was huge and agent fees higher than ever and we are 20th in league. Where would we be without him.

Mike That was my understanding after meeting him last week too. I just did not think it was my place to post it. Instead I think I said I expect he will be around for a while, has the confidence of the new owners, and so it is really a waste of time carrying on arguing about it. Or I said something like that. It's what I honestly believe although I know some have slated me for it. I personally could no longer give a t**S about it all, and despite my avatar as concession to my critics, I have no interest or motive in spinning about it either. I just think he is going to be around for a while and so that's it. On the other hand I am not suggesting anyone should not asking difficult questions. It's so important for fans to do that to hold their club to account. I just hope that can be done without being mired in personal grudges. But no doubt I shall always be a dreamer I do not think it is down to personal feelings it is down to the fact that some people were saying the club was close to going under and you and others did all you could to try and make the people saying such things look like people who in you're words "wanted to distory the club and real QPR should turn their backs on such people" Bit of a cheek as when the truth came out they were telling the truth unlike the chairman at club AGM's Infact perhaps Nick De Marco could tell us why The chairman told the fans the club would break even when the truth was the club was going under. at the shareholders meeting.

I resent the implication that I was fishing for gossip or even the fact that I asked a question that was impossible for you to answer. A reply simply stating that you are unaware of his duties would have sufficed and that is all I wanted, a reply. The fact that you ignored me and am now debasing me by your mention of gossip in reply to my question is absurd and I find insulting. ********************************* - Sentence edited by MarkQPR due to it breaking the rules of this messageboard by being intentionally personally offensive.I would prefer it if you wrote about your personal life elsewhere as the idea of this message board is to debate and talk QPR so if you are here just to tell us what you get up to in your personal life, please don't, we don't really care. By writing about your personal life and then saying that you won't take questions does actually make your original post nothing more than gossip. And that makes you a dumb hypocrite. You are beneath me and a pathetic waste of my time that I won't give you anymore.

Mark your uneccessarily offensive and intemperate reply is precisely why I have avoided engaging with polemical questions or arguments on here before. Clearly I should have continued to do so. When people approach these debates with certain attitudes already intrenched about the personalities involved it is easy to read into every reply exactly what you want or don't want to read into them, and make an argument from nothing.
I did not for a moment intend to imply from my reply that you were fishing for gossip etc, and I apologise if you thought it referred to you. I was simply trying to preface my reply, which I did not want to give, by stating that I was not meeting with GP to get answers to anything (whether serious or gossip) and that was one additional reason why I might not be able to give those who have asked questions the most useful responses. You have taken that the wrong way completely, as I did not in fact think there was anything wrong with the questions you asked, just my ability to deal with it. Again I apologise to you for taking it the wrong way. I have to say, in view of your way over the top response, I hope you are man enough to apologise to me.
I don't think anyone here is 'beneath' anyone else, Mark, and I don't think it is helpful to regard people in that way simply because, and I am afraid this is the ultimate cause of it all, there are differences of opinion. Your reply does serve as a useful reminder to me though that trying, however politely and in whatever however non-confrontationally, to express an alternative view on an internet forum where things are often taken the wrong way can be a waste of time, and I shall try and heed that advice once again.

That seems to be the only way I could elicit a reply from you. It is extremely frustrating to ask a fair question to a post about a relevant matter and be totally ignored, several times. Once or twice fair enough, but after a while you begin to realise that the person your asking doesn't deem you worthy enough of a reply. To then mention gossip was an insult as I am plainly not here to gossip and I would not pry on a private meeting out of due course, but as you posted it on a message board forum I thought it was fair game to ask as it was you that made it public. The martyr approach does not wash with me either as I have never treated you in the way you have described above and find it insulting personally that you cannot differentiate me individually from other posters as I do you. To lump me in with people who I do not know nor share their opinion is incredulous to me and pointless to do so. As for being man enough to apologise, I don't feel the need to as I stand by what I wrote. It was a direct reaction to how you responded to me not a preconceived opinion and presume your man enough to accept it and move on, ignoring me as I will now ignore you.

SO WHAT ! You went to dinner with Paladini (the/your friend), then you came on here & posted up some pathetic synopsis of the dinner like a starry eyed Carmen Miranda. qprreport.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=11427&page=1quote Nico ;- I shan’t get involved in a running argument about Gianni, for the reasons I have avoided it before. I really don’t think it is that important for the future of the club to engage in such a debate. Then why do you continue debate about him ? I wonder how you became a QPR Director and you must be wondering why you get the response you do and to complicate matters, your past attempt at imaging QPR from within have resulted in fans seeing miss-speaks posted in the press by you to cover up GP. You wonder why you are asked SO MANY AGGRAVATING QUESTIONS (which you repel with long windedself absorbed paragraphs). Your response to Mark shows you have issues with your own perspective of conversational intolerance. Damn where's that ignore button...

OK Mark, so you are a moderator in this site and you think it is acceptable to say, to a poster, 'F**** you, you condescending thick putz....You are beneath me and a pathetic waste of my time that I won't give you anymore.'?
And even if they apologise for any confusion which may have prompted your offensive response, you reply you stand by it?
And you complain it is so frustrating that I don't answer your questions?
Sorry but who the hell do you think you are to demand I answer your questions or to abuse people ion such a crass and stupid way? You are exactly the kind of problem that makes it impossible to have a sensible debate on QPR websites. Yes I'm angry that someone can be so damn stupid and rude for no good reason except your ignorance, and so I am sure your happy to get me to sink to your level, and I apologise to anyone else reading for doing so. It's a disgrace that you are a moderator and cannot moderate your own behaviour. You demean this site.
And no I don't want to act the martyr or invite you to delete my posts, but I shall think long and hard again before ever expressing a reasonable view on this site so long as people like you claim to moderate it.

Give it a rest mate, most of us on here are QPR fans born & bred & instinctively know what is right for our football club. You on the other hand ? Well, I'm dubious, you seem like one of those agenda types to me, whereas we just want what is best for our football club, no agenda's.

Same old same old klr. Call yourself a real fan and question anyone who disagrees with your view as having an agenda and thus not being a real fan. then you cry how disgraceful it is if people from another site say you are not a fan as you don't go to games etc. Rise above it. Accept people can have different views without agendas. I made the same mistake as you once, and suggested those who disagreed had agendas. The worst thing is I actually believed it. Passions get high and you say some stupid things. But I realise now that they are just passionate fans too, as I would never doubt about you. Your views might have a little more respect once you are able to see people who disagree with you are also 'real' fans.

Nico, fair enough.
I really don't not like being alluded to as a gossip though and I apologise for the offensive sentence in my post and will edit it out.
I will PM a personal aplology as well as that sentence was an over reaction.
I also apologise to the board readers and fellow moderators for my temper as well over what is an emotive subject for us all equally.

Mark, thank you very much. It is appreciated. And once again I did not intend to allude to you as a gossip and I repeat my apology if it came across that way. Your question was a quite valid and serious one.
I too apologise to board readers for getting a bit riled by this, and I am glad we are all big enough to get over it. I've always thought it is one of the real health hazards of the internet that we can get the wrong ends of sticks, overreact and it spirals into something out of control. I don't want to contribute to that, so I am trying to respect the views of everyone here, and I think it is good if we all do the same.
