I overestimated our club
I thought that last night's "confusion" re game on and game off and the brief statements made would be followed up by a profuse apology from the Club leadership accompanied by a full explanation about what actually occurred and why. Even though Watford last night was able to post a fairly lengthy statement from their manger, Malky Mackay. while nothing further was forthcoming from QPR (except for the accompanying photo of the pitch).
Obviously for myself, attending the game was never an option. And in in terms of I feared another loss, I was actually glad that the game was cancelled. But many, many QPR fans (and many Watford fans) were already en route, and laid out time and money, to get to Loftus Road.
Games get cancelled. Fields get waterlogged. Sh** happens. And one has to accept that, even if one moans. But there is absolutely no reason that the club has not come out with that apology and explanation both for the game being cancelled and for their earlier misleading "Game On" Statement .Sorry and thanks would go a long way. And not just an anonymous posting on the Official Site: But from our Chairman.
I waited all day today re posting about this, as I genuinely expected that QPR would come out with some sort of statement.
But thus far nothing, no apology, no explanation. Just "business as usual"posts.
All that the club has said thus far on its official site: (First: "GAME ON: - Tonight's match against Watford at Loftus Road is on despite adverse weather conditions, although a precautionary pitch inspection will take place by 6pm. At this stage, there is no risk of the game being postponed." Followed by " GAME OFF: Tonight's match against Watford at Loftus Road has been postponed due to torrential rain. A new date for this fixture will be announced in due course")

Communication - funny how any relationships can be destroyed or how mistrust can flouris when there is no communication and how proper channels of honest comms can keep any relationship going for years. It is this lack of communication that is killing QPR and yet fans of all that is Flab still cannot grasp that simple fact. His statement about 20 quid fans was his way of telling the fans that he was never going to "stoop to our level" and treat us as anything other than mushtrooms - and true to form he has struck again.
This is PR at its lowest but sadly not un typical of what QPR has become - and yet the Flab fan club go on regardless, blissfully unaware of their ignorance.

Are you suggesting they should communicate with the scumbag twenty quid mug punters that mindlessly turn up regardless of the tripe being served?
Don't forget, you can only dream of having players like we now have! I think that should be nightmare actually Mr briatore.
Have you not noticed there isn't even a customer charter this season?
Unless some drastic action is taken, they will have season ticket holders onlyt turning up for remaining games which means they make no money on a match day. This to me would be a deserving outcome for treating the customer with contempt.

Personally, I think we were lucky they actually announced it was off an hour before kick off. With their hostility to the fans. I half expected fans to get to the ground and see a signs up saying "Ground closed, so f**k off back home, but pop into the club shop on your way"

Checked at 6:20 myself, saw the "At this stage, there is no risk of the game being postponed" message accompanied by the news of an inspection at 6 (i.e. 20 mins before) So we left and got halfway there before hearing on the radio. No apology on the offy site. Not even a word with the manager or ref or groundsman. Nothing.

As I live in Perth, & as Perth time is 8 hrs in advance of London time, I got out of bed at 3-45am, to watch the match reports on the net. Turn on the computor, what do I see QPR v Watford PP. Bah Humbug. Back to bed.

I gave up a meeting with the wellington phoenix players to stay at home and listen to the non commentary. that was my last chance to wish them well for this sundays semi-final against the Perth Glory(holes).
I'd like to say a nice warm "F***you very much" to QPR for the incovenience.

The REFEREE calls the games off NOT the club.
He looked at 6.00pm and said there wasn't any problem, hence the clubs post.
It then chucked it down and after THE REFEREE had then checked the pitch AND the weather forecast THE REFEREE called the game off.
Watford manager - experienced ex player and now manager and who had been on the pitch (Any of those apply to anyone here?.......... no? thought not) called it the correct decision.
So where's the problem and all this guff about apology come from?
Loads of matches called off in the last month (ALL by THE REFEREES I hasten to add) and I haven't seen ANY Chairmen coming forward and apologising to the fans - funny that eh?

The decision to cancel the game, we'll give the ref.
The statement on the Official site certainly made it sound like the game was on (almost a certainty)
But my key point is that once the game was cancelled (and acknowledging not the club's decision), it costs the club nothing to say sorry, regrets, explain what happened, etc. And it's the right thing to do.
And actually if you look at other club sites, you do get the Chairmen apologizing to the fans about exactly this kind of matter.

I agree that the ref is the man that calls the game on or off, I think the issue that has got at people is the way at 1800 the game was never in doubt, but the exact same page at 1905 was completely to the contrary, with no acknowledgement of the first report. [in fact the 'updated page' was never published- the original post was just rewritten (a bit nineteen-eighty four) so would not have alerted people on the move via rss or web alerts (to my knowledge) so you would have to keep refreshing that page, but you would not refresh it because you would have been assured of the game going ahead] This dose the ref no favour either, makes him look like a bit of a nare do well, which is not true. they should be a bit more honest maybe.
