Gannon, who was dismissed by Motherwell in December, made his name at Stockport County, who he led to promotion to League One in 2008. Cooper was fired on Monday after only one win in 13 games since taking over from Darren Ferguson on 14 November. PEterborough Official Site Jim Gannon Appointed As New Manager Posted on: Tue 02 Feb 2010 Peterborough United Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of former Stockport County and Motherwell boss Jim Gannon as our new manager. Gannon, who will be introduced to the media on Tuesday afternoon at London Road, took Stockport to League One via the play-offs in the 2007-2008 campaign, giving Posh a close run for one of the automatic promotion places. He helped nurture some talented youngsters at Edgelely Park including Tommy Rowe, who is among the squad at London Road and Rowe himself stated that he owes everything to Gannon for his career to date. Whilst at Motherwell, Gannon was in the dugout as the Scottish side played Romanian giants Steaua Bucharest in the Europa League qualifiers. Gannon, speaking exclusively to theposh.com, said: 'It is a fantastic opportunity and I am excited, not just because of the opportunity, but the challenge of trying to bring some good football to Peterborough. 'My philosphy is good passing football, it is how I believe the game should be played and it brings out the best in players. It inspires them and motivates them to play football in the right manner. 'At Stockport when I went there we were seven points adrift and we stayed up so it can be done. Statistically, it looks a difficult task, but the main aim is to get three poitns on Saturday, try and make a difference and bring back some positive football. 'I am sure the fans have been dispirited by some of the results of late, I think what everyone wants to see is players playing their football in the right way and showing their true colours. 'Once they do that, I am sure the fans will enjoy their football and it can be a more enjoyable end to the season. I have spoken to one or two of the players already and they know what I want to try and achieve. 'The main objective is to get three points on Saturday against Queens Park Rangers. The Championship is a tough league to pick up a string of victories, but we want to play better football and hopefully the results will follow and let's see where it takes us. Subscribers to PUTV can see a full interview with the new manager on Tuesday. www.theposh.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10427~1952508,00.html

Peterbrough Official Site - Official Statement From Darragh MacAnthony Posted on: Tue 02 Feb 2010
Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has issued the following statement;
'Following Mark Cooper's departure from the football club yesterday I wish him well for the future and have no doubt that he will be back in management sooner rather than later. After losing 8 times in 13 games including five defeats in January where we conceded 12 goals and only scored 1, his position became untenable and I felt it was time for a change for the good of the club.
I take full responsibility for the recruitment and departure of Mark and will always hold my hands up when something does not work out for the club because of a decision that I make. I can only give the Posh fans my word that I will make it up to all of them for the events over the last three months.
There haven't been a lot of great times for us in the Championship and our confidence is at a serious low point at present but I have appointed the right manager to take us forward and install some much needed confidence all over the club top to bottom and have a good go at these last 18 games.
Mistakes get made, but it's not how you make them that matters, it's how you fix them and hopefully we can get back to winning football matches and playing attacking football once more and unite our dressing room and of course our fans!'

I e-mailed him the other day regarding his last statement and I got two replies from his staff. This guy is so genuine, I'm tempted to become a Posh and walk on broken glass barefoot for the man. Would tghat move make me a glory Hunter?? Integrity! A word unfamiliar at Loftus Road lately.
