For the big clubs this is a nothing investment. If it doesn't work out, no big deal, financially. If it ever turns out that Sterling was "encouraged' by anyone at QPR to move on...If QPR was a farmer, we'd be eating the seedcorn for next year's crops The Sun - ARSENAL are set to snatch QPR wonderkid Raheem Sterling from under the noses of Manchester rivals City and United. The North West rivals, along with Liverpool, have been tracking Rangers' 14-year-old striking sensation for months. Manchester City have already spoken with the Hoops about their hot prospect. But Sterling is close to joining the Gunners after speaking with Academy director Liam Brady. Rangers can expect around £750,000 in compensation plus add-ons. I think Arsenal would be the best move for the lad. Either way lets hope we get a decent sell on fee/clause.

Daily Mail rehash of the original story but worth posting to see a QPR player in an England shirt Arsenal lead Chelsea and United in race for QPR's 14-year-old wonderkid Raheem SterlingBy SPORTSMAIL REPORTER Last updated at 3:55 PM on 25th November 2009 Arsenal have emerged as favourites to sign Queens Park Rangers wonderkid Raheem Sterling. The 14-year-old has also been watched by Chelsea, Liverpool and both Manchester United and City. But Sterling is reportedly in the frame to join the Gunners after talking to head of youth development Liam Brady. We are not interested in talented youngsters.
We are interested in one good striker only.
We are not interested in very good fullbacks, average ones are ok
We are interested in Akos, and taraabt (though there is a rumour that he missed team bus to Donkeyland) not mine.
We are interested in being promoted
We are not interested in being promoted.
We like a 1 4 1 3 1 1 formation.
We like a 4-4-2 formation.
We are in 6th place and are happy.

At least Arsenal has a good academy and knows how to educate footballers. Perhaps we could get a buy back clause?

If we are to be taken serious we have to invest in our youth set up.

Spoke to my lad earlier who was just back from training and asked him about Sterling as he mentioned before one of the lads at his club is his mate. He said he is now friends with him and Balanta on facepaint. Sterling is still saying that he is staying at Rangers.

The Sun rehashed www.soccernews.com/arsenal-raid-for-qpr-wonderkid/27212/?Arsenal raid for QPR wonderkidNovember 26th, 2009 Arsenal are set to swoop for Queens Park Rangers ace Raheem Sterling, beating the likes of rivals Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool for the prodigy. Numerous Premier League clubs are said to have been tracking the 14-year-old sensation for a number of months now, but a move across London to the Gunners is most likely after Sterling met with Academy director Liam Brady. QPR can expect to recieve around £750,000 in compensation, as well as add-ons which will increase should the player succeed at the Emirates Stadium. However, manager Jim Magilton will aim to persuade the youngster to stay after promoting him to first-team training in recent weeks and the striker could even make his debut for the club in the next few games. Sterling was reportedly a VIP guest at Liverpool’s game against Manchester United recently, but a move closer to home could suit the 14-year-old better

Sterling was reportedly a VIP guest at Liverpool’s game against Manchester United recently, but a move closer to home could suit the 14-year-old betterIsn't this the same story but Arsenal has been substituted for Man. City? When's is it C*****a's turn to be 'interested'? I already expect Sterling to go as his options are much better at one of the bigger clubs and we have failed miserably in recent times to improve our youth set up so unless he actually has a desire to play for us I see it in his best interests to go and learn his trade with the best coaches and facilities that are on offer. I am wondering, with Flabio's contacts, would it not be best to see if Real Madrid are interested? The benefits for Sterling to go there equally match any of the bigger teams in this country or if not are better, and then we could loan him back when he is ready. He would escape the press that have already taken an unhealthy interest in his career and obviously do not care what effect their stories have on him with the added pressure that they bring a fourteen year old who just wants to play football. It will also benefit him in the long run outside of football as it would be a great experience for him. His family may balk at the idea of moving abroad and that is more than understandable but I feel there is too much pressure on him already and working with the best coaches in the world at one of the top clubs in the world would probably be more beneficial than him staying in this country where he might end up playing in a first team too soon. All this is just pie in the sky at the moment of course, as the only quote from Sterling so far indicates that for the time being he is not going anywhere and the papers are rehashing the same story based on the same facts each day but if I was him I would look for the best move in terms of financial reward and future prospects. Whilst we can offer him the first one if the board wanted to, and the second one as well if the manager thinks he is ready and could be used, as our first team is within touching distance for him at the moment, though I think his best move would be to a team like Real Madrid as that leaves the door open for a return to QPR and our player won't end up scoring goals for any of our (soon to be ) rivals.

It's now the People's turn. We want 1.5 mill apparently. www.people.co.uk/sport/football/tm_method=full%26objectID=21858748%26siteID=93463-name_page.htmlQPR'S RAHEEM STERLING'S £1.5M VALUEHOTLINE Qpr want £1.5MILLION for teenager Raheem Sterling - but Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are refusing to bite at that price. City and the Gunners were both talking about player-plus-cash deals last week, sending fringe players to Rangers as part of a deal for the 14-year-old striker. However, QPR have already snubbed a £750,000 offer for the youngster, who impressed on his debut for the England Under-16s. Sterling is expected to be given a by QPR next month when he 15, but his long-term future away from Loftus Road Hopefully the price tag is to scare people rather than inducing a bidding war for a 14 year old.

I not sure as to how we can 'charge a fee' for Sterling. He is too young to be contracted and can only imagine we are putting out figures, if we are indeed doing so, to make sure we are properly compensated if he does end up elsewhere. Go to Real Madrid I say, and in training give that Parejo a kick up the backside from me! (only joking! )
