Crashgate... A famous swedish journalist (famous in Sweden that is), living in Italy - Kristina Kappelin has written a piece in one of Swedens tabloids, Aftonbladet. In the article she defends Briatore saying this stinks of a set up and he is the one being sacrificed since F1 wants to keep Renault at any cost. She does a retake of Briatores career and states that she has no warm feelings for Briatore but that this is probably a wrongdoing against him. Finally she predicts that Briatore will appeal to FIA and take it to a civilan court, and while doing this plotting his revenge... Link to the article, in swedish of course: www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/kronikorer/kristinakappelin/article5872682.ab

Thanks...Although question is why Briatore stepped down...
Anyway I think Nico should take the case. If Jewish lawyers can defend Holocaust-denying/white supremasists and Terrorists committed to the elimination of Israel and African American lawyers can defend KKK terrorist...Surely it's not too much ask. You don't have to like your client; only that your client deserves the best defense.

You are correct Report As I barrister here in UK we must adopt the 'cab rank rule' anyway (that's not the one where they say, sorry I am not going South of the River!). Sometimes I wonder whether they should have really called it the 'street corner rule' I would be happy to take Mr B's case for the right fee

After talking to some legal sources the following verdict is deemed correct.
Mr Briatore should be found Guilty but Innocent.

Nico.
I also, am in need of the professional services of a Barrister. Therefore I would like you to act on my behalf. What's the case about you may well ask.
In a word son.....Libel. We would be seeking damages in the region of 425k.
You wrote...... As I Barrister here in the UK we must adopt the 'Cab Rank Rule.' (That's not the one where they say I am sorry I am not going south of the River)
In any man's language, I make that Libel son. So in this instance, I would expect you to prosecute yourself on my behalf. I realise that you would be acting for the defence (you) as well, but I expect you to 'Slaughter' yourself on my behalf, and ensure that we get a 'Result.'
We can't lose with this one......and your fee would be a small drink. Let's get cracking with this one. We play our cards right, we might even be able to go down the Legal Aid route as well.
Let's fast track this Nico son.
'Earn while you learn with Zico.'

I think that cabbies do not go south of the river as they know that they are unlikely to get a fare to go up north on the return, especially on the kebab run or the vomit junket as it is called in some quarters. ;D I just made that last bit up. I am going to france now bye!

The innocent part of this verdict will now be defended by this psudo cyber Barrister.
I. melud. I will show you pictures of Fi races. pause while Judge adjusts glasses. I ask you mlud is this a sport? cars racing around tracks at breackneck speeds passing walls and spectators. We claim that this is an event a motorway, not much different to driving way over the speed limit. Go on,without objection, secondly, mr Briatore told the driver to crash, the defendant did nothing. The driver being of sound mind had a choice. objection sustained. but he was told he would lose his job if he didnt. go on sir. There are plenty of other jobs where this type of instruction doesnt exist! The defence rests..... Jurors proceed to your deliberations.

Ok, translated using googles translator tool....so please it will probably be worse than Svens english!
"If the intrigue, money, recession and the power game, is the remarkable story of how Flavio Briatore is the only one who will pay for Renault's cheating in F1.
In the general decadence that prevails, it is well not to be surprised that Formula 1 is in the maelstrom. Right now it looks really bad for Flavio Briatore.
In Italy, he is super-celebrity, because of his incredible life story. He started as a salesman in baby clothes, hairdressing model and ski instructor and ended up as team manager for one of F1's best stables, Renault.
Just a few months ago he was still darling of fortune. At the age of 59 are similar although he more his old aunt Genoveffa than the playboy he is reputed to be. One of his more famous girlfriend is Naomi Campbell. But now he has married and will soon become a father. A man's aging is usually also not be a problem for his attraction in Italy, he just has money.
But now it is reversed and the world that made Flavio Briatore to the migratory success story he is, is to destroy him.
Lifetime ban Something like this is the situation:
In July, acknowledged the former Renault driver Nelsinho
Piquet that he drove to the track in the GP in Singapore in 2008 to prepare the way for team mates
Fernando Alonso's victory.
Piquet pointed out Briatore as the man behind the plan, along with Renault's technical director Pat Symonds. A week ago, condemned the International Automobile Federation (FIA) Briatore to lifetime ban. Symonds got five years, Renault two years of conditional suspension, ie no suspension at all, only a slight bend in the edge. Piquet and Alonso can leave the incident behind them as two clean little lambs. No impact whatsoever.
It Baxna. I have no particularly warm feelings for Briatore, but this stinks plot long road. Why should he alone take the blame for something that probably all the parties involved knew?
In fact, there was no evidence against Briatore until a few days before the FIA's "trial". Then suddenly appeared a mysterious witness up, which confirmed the Italian team managers guilt. Nobody has seen a glimpse of this secret truth, outside the FIA's inner circle. More than one suspects that he / she does not exist in this world.
But the FIA needed a scapegoat and Flavio with his bushy lifestyles, has certainly caused anger among many over the years. Briatore was also having to create FOTA (Formula One Teams Association) 2008, which weakens both the FIA and Formula 1's strongman Bernie Ecclestone's stranglehold on the sport.
Neither FIA President Max Mosley and Bernie
Ecclestone appears a model of transparency and fair play. Mosley had his own little scandal last year, when it came out that he participated in a Nazi-themed orgy SM. But Mosley is like a Teflon pan. Nothing burns at.
Can not afford to lose Renault The allegations in Italy now that Mosley has made up with Renault to save the team by sacrificing Briatore. In a recession, the F1 can not afford to lose a team that draws in big sponsorship money and provide work for 700 people. Flavio Briatore to disappear into the scenes, however, is not a major problem. He is certainly the 1990s, most successful team manager, together with Jean Todt. But some of the people involved are certainly a new candidate to Renault in the back pocket.
And Briatore? Not the type who sits and tunes like. He may appeal to the FIA and he may appeal to "ordinary" court. There, he will surely do well. In the meantime, he prepares his revenge.
Kristina Kappelin "

An interesting view by the journo, what if she is right? Lots of egg on lots of faces. Hang in theew Favio, all might not be lost yet.
Tere I go sticking up for the man again. I don't know why, but I think even if it was a different person, something still is not quite right about this whole saga. Mosely is up to something, I can feel it. Using the force!
