Ffs Plymouth hadn’t won for weeks and sacked their manager with 6 games to go, now picked up 7 points from 3 games. We didn’t want that result Leicester are crap currently, thank heavens they managed to beat Birmingham but we beat them so did Millwall and now Plymouth

The question is do Leicester actually want to get promoted and back into the clutches of the PL?

I honestly cant see Plymouth getting another point and if Birmingham lose at home to Coventry Sat, they are really up against it. We could have enough already. Preston at home, is my banker if we need it, they will be out of the playoff picture by then. And that is why I gave up gambling!. Joking aside, as mentioned last nights result just highlights how well we played on Tuesday. 1 point behind Plymouth, with a game in hand. Every team below us would take your hand off to be in our position. Its still In our hands, no panic here.

Blackburn beating Leeds has made this an even more massive game today now.
I am so peed off with Begovic right now, basically putting us back in the mire with an absolute joke of an attempted clearance that gifted Plymouth their equaliser. Idiot!!

There are 46 games in a season so if we do go down it cannot be blamed on one mistake by our keeper. How about the 2 golden chances that Smyth missed that would have put us out of sight. There are hundreds of moments in the season where we can say "if only" and the biggest is "if only we had a manager for the first 16 games"

And Preston lost, which is massive for us. Our game with them is the late kick off, hopefully Norwich win and Prestons season is over.

Yes we need Preston to lose away to Southampton Tuesday and Norwich to beat Bristol C, then our game is of less importance to them but we still need to win it.

Positives yesterday, not very many. Hudds and Sheff Weds drawing. Preston have to play midweek and if they lose and Norwich win Saturday before our match, might be less focused. Coventry would almost for sure not be able to make play offs with Norwich winning Saturday. Also as Coventry are in the FA cup Saturday, they play Saturday, Tuesday , Saturday, Tuesday Saturday , 5 games in 14 days. All these could go in our favour. With WBA losing yesterday, means when they play Sheff Weds Saturday week, they may still need points if they lose or draw at Leicester Saturday but Leicester are poor lately. Hopefully it all stays tight for the top three until last game when Sheffield Weds play Ipswich.
So this week we want Southampton to beat Preston. One thing we do know is Leeds will be very much up for it as they can still get into top 2 when we play them.
But we need something against Preston , ideally 3 points but minimum one. If we could win we will know that we can’t be in the bottom two after the Leeds match unless we got thumped and Huddersfield caught our goal difference.
And of course if we did win and Sheffield Weds lost at Blackburn, then Sheff Weds could not catch us.

Next weekend, the four teams below us all look to have winnable games so a defeat for us is likely going to put us out of the relegation zone by goal difference only. I think the results before we play in the later kick off will be key to our mental attitude which has been wanting most of the season. Preston have been a bogey team for us at home over the years.

Still all in our own hands but we have not helped ourselves with the last 3 games.
What will happen - not even going to guess. Who would expect Plymouth to beat Leicester and Blackburn to beat Leeds all in theh space of 12 hours. Brum have had their manager bounce Plymouth their no manager bounce.
We have the toughest run in but watch for Stoke and Sheff Wed to go pointless.
What I feel is unfair is our last 2 home games being played "off schedule" 17-15 on a Saturday against Preston followed by 20-00 the next Friday night against Leeds. At this crunch time all the games should be played with the same kick off so teams do not have the advantage of knowing what they need.

And Preston lost, which is massive for us. Our game with them is the late kick off, hopefully Norwich win and Prestons season is over. I've said this before. Teams with nothing to play for are under no pressure and can play with freedom. Personally, I'd rather play a team that needs a result.

Allow me to put on my Sweeping Statement hat(Again) Leeds will beat us. We wont win against Coventry. It all hinges on the home fixture against Preston plus other results from our relegation rivals going our way. I don't know about anyone else but my bum is still squeaking

One game at time. We want Southampton to beat Preston tomorrow and pick up as many injuries as possible. We want Leics to beat or draw with WBA Sat early ko as this will mean WBA will need points against Sheff Weds Sat week. Then we want games to go in our games at 3 PM Sat including Norwich win
Then we get to our game and the real nerves start.

No idea what is going to happen but seeing all the theories about wanting certain results between teams outside the relegation battle may be interesting to speculate but as results last weekend show they have little impact on the top or bottom of the table. Plus the theories that it is either better to play a team with no worries or hopes or to play a team that needs points is a double edge argument. If a club needs points they will fight, if they are comfortable they can relax and play football while we are under pressure. The bottom line is the situation is in our own hands. If I look to this weeks and weekend games the results we want are simple. We want Huddersfield to lose on Saturday afternoon , us to beat Preston Saturday evening and Sheff Wed to lose on Sunday. That will leave us 6 points above a relegation place with 2 to play and a much better goal difference. Unless we then lose our last 2 and manage to let a 9 or 10 goal goal difference slip to one of the two below who would need to win both their games we are safe. Chances of getting those results we want/need are probably close to zero just because I called them.

Yeah is that good or bad, surely if they can’t catch Norwich it’s good Ultimately, if we play badly it won’t matter, as Preston will beat us. Really the only thing we can control is how well, or badly, we play. The rest is out of our hands.

Really the only thing we can control is how well, or badly, we play. The rest is out of our hands. I would have preferred that to be a draw last night. Why? Preston had a shocking first half but sorted it out at halftime - little chance of them having a shocking game twice in a row or losing twice in a row. As I have said many times before our fate is in our own hands - all we need to do is convert a couple of chances instead of missing or hitting woodwork. The only certain thing is that we will not be in the play-offs this season - unless the EFL refund us 40 points as compensation for fining us too much under FFP.

Let's not forget Plymouth and Stoke and the games that have to play - neither are out of trouble and one or the other could lose their last 3 quite easily. _ Of course we would still need a win to be sure to. be above either but there could be more twists to come than we think,
