No so fussed with Fox but Cox could definitely do another season or two, he is one of the factors of why this team has turned it around. Sad to lose JCS if we do, we stuck with him while things were bad, will he stick with us and honour loyalties, probably not it tends not to go that way in football. According to The72 JCS is under contract to 2026 so another 2 years - Ricky says one year and he is probably more reliable than The72 clickbait But if it is 2 years we should definitely try to keep him for another year and if continues as now his value will increase but also drop a bit if we sell with only one year left on his contract. The first question is will he want to leave now - the clubs he has been linked with are not going to set anything alight but obviously can pay him much more. But if Marti can convince him he is building for a play-off season he might want to stay. If he wants to go there is no use keeping an unhappy player who can cry off when he wants but then we have to hold out for a good price. Fox is probably a good back up and sub but not key. Cook I agree is key - we lost out when he went to Forest and I think he got them promoted and now he has led our recovery and improved defence. Anyway I'll leave all this until the summer transfer window thread and much of this could just be clickbait at the moment. Next 2 games are more important right now.

Rotherham had been doomed for a while. Whenever I have seen Sheffield Wed. on TV I have been very unimpressed. They were rubbish in a 2-0 defeat at 'boro(should have been far more) in their last game and post match the Sheffield Wed manager blasted his players in public. Gone methinks. This may be tempting the fates I know but I can see nothing else but a victory over the Owls on Saturday!
What puzzles me though is how the hell did the sick man of the Championship Stoke City get those away wins at Preston and Hull City? and furthermore how did they beat us the other month? Never the less I will still stand by an earlier prediction of mine that Rotherham Sheffield Wed along with Stoke will be the teams relegated

According to The72 JCS is under contract to 2026 so another 2 years - Ricky says one year and he is probably more reliable than The72 clickbait Next 2 games are more important right now. Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I think 72 may well be correct about JCS contract running to 2026. I thought it was 3 years plus a one-year option running from 2022, but most sites have it as a straight 4-year contract. Given his injury record, 4 years was quite generous. If we look back to this time last year, and JCS was taking stick for being one of the many absentees every Saturday. He was not much better than Laird for wanting to go off with unspecified, or thigh strains. So if we do sell him for decent coin, it will represent a massive turn around. As for who goes down... I don't really care so long as it is not us! Sheffield Wednesday have performed heroics and probably deserve to stay up. Birmingham deserves all that they get for sacking Eustace. Millwall deserve to be relegated - for being Millwall. Huddersfield are a warning to us that you have to finish the job. They got out of it and are now back in it. Plymouth have the smallest budget, so I would like the underdog to survive. With games against Rotherham and QPR they will now get their chance - but the decision to run without a manager will either be their Saviour or just plain stupid. Wouldn't it be crazy if the three teams who were promoted to the Championship last season all depart, but with ipswich promoted, and the other two (Sheffield Wednesday & Plymouth) relegated?

Posting this twice in different threads - see Rickys post re Dieng on ex players The72 are winding up the summer transfer window clickbait a bit early and as well the Dieng to Newcastle or Ipswich post they have just posted that Scottish sources say Celtic have already made an approach for JCS. We can do without this until we are safe. the72.co.uk/2024/04/03/celtic-make-first-contact-over-potential-deal-for-qpr-man/

Oh course Plymouth finally get a win, the game before we play them, we knew that was coming.🙄 Rotherham make up the first relegated team slot. One down two to go.

First goal even more important today. Wednesday know that when they went on the front foot against us in their home match that we turned a victory into defeat, so they will come at us with little to lose. Perhaps a good one for Armstrong to start to keep them back.

Oh course Plymouth finally get a win, the game before we play them, we knew that was coming.🙄 Rotherham make up the first relegated team slot. One down two to go. I prefer that Plymouth broke heir losing streak last night rather than breaking it against us. Seems it was a very poor performance from both sides last night so I doubt it was a case of Plymouth suddenly turning the corner without a manager or coach. I have more confidence that we can beat Plymouth than I have about today's game. Just a bad gut feel that we will struggle at home today with the fan expectancy and nerves to get the win that will open up the gap further. Meanwhile SW will just go for it. Plus can we win 3 in a row? A draw today and win next week would leave us reasonably placed but 2 wins would be better and no need to monitor other teams results. 2 defeats and we will be in a bad place. Still any 2 clubs from the 9 above Rotherham are in the mix imo and the next 2 games or even just today will thin that number down as some pick up vital points - hopefully us but I really do not have any great expectations or idea. But in Marti we must trust and hope we do not blow all the good work he has done to get us where we are. Just hope we turn up today and not wait until halftime to get going.

I would be over the moon with 4 points from the next 3 games. If we can have 50 after next Saturdays Hull game we will be in a good place. If we beat Sheff Weds today and get that other point by next weekend. Sheff Weds would need to win 4 from 5 games to go above us , that’s if we get zero from Preston,Coventry and Leeds
In their five games they have Norwich, WBA and Blackburn and Sunderland away and a Stoke relegation battle. They won’t get near fifty points if we beat them today. By the time we have played Hull , if we get the win today, chances are only 22nd spot will be the one we are not safe from.
Main thing today is same as Plymouth Tuesday night, just don’t lose them , draws will be ok.

3 points today and we are safe. Wednesday won’t get to 50 nor will one other team below us as lots of matches against each other. Plus we will grab at least a point here or there before end of season.

Bristol City & Cardiff wins would be great this evening. Swansea v Stoke is difficult. A draw would be best I suppose as it keeps both teams in the mix although, if there has to be a winner, Swansea would be better.

Fantastic set of results tonight. I thought Birmingham would win that.
I thought our four games were tough Blackburns are tough. Leeds and Leicester away plus Cov and Sheff Weds.
Swansea 50 points now, removed , any two from eight
This weekend I think we want Stokes form to get good now, let Stoke win there next two , beat Sheff Weds , then beat Plymouth following week and get clear, then If Plymouth lose to Leicester Saturday could pick up no points from two. I’m turning to a Stoke supporter now.
CRUNCH GAMES BOLD
Plymouth - Fixtures: Leicester (h), Stoke (a), Millwall (a), Hull (h)
Blackburn - Fixtures: , Leeds (a), Sheffield Wednesday (h), Coventry (h), Leicester (a)

Results tonight really could not have gone better for us.
Ultimately, though, this is in our hands. One more win should guarantee us safe. We are in a position to control our own destiny, whereas teams like Brum, Huddersfield and Wednesday are now reliant on others slipping up to get them out of it.

Yep a truly set of great results for us last night .....BUT to me it only provides insurance for the forthcoming defeat at Hull City. Sorry to be such a doom monger. I hope I am wrong. After that difficult games to come against Preston Leeds and Coventry. Lets hope by then all those 3 are "out of it" and will not have anything to play for. We should in the end to quote those famous Beatles Lyrics get by with a little help from our friends. That fat lady is not on the stage yet though

Agree what above. We are now at stage of season where a points target is not the realistic focus but instead we just need to be equal to or better 2 teams below us. It is 2 from 8, with us 1st that mini league. Since there are a few games between teams below, we could even survive with just 1 more point as long as we keep GD reasonable if any games lost. That said I have confidence we can nick a point at Hull and then turn over Preston, as they will need to come at us if the h still have a chance of the play offs - that suits our style where we can counter attack like we do away from home.

I honestly cant see Plymouth getting another point and if Birmingham lose at home to Coventry Sat, they are really up against it. We could have enough already. Preston at home, is my banker if we need it, they will be out of the playoff picture by then.

Preston probably need 4 wins from last 5 to have a chance of playoffs. Before they play us, they have Norwich at home (must win) and their game in hand is away to Southampton. If they don’t get positive results, which is very likely, then by the time they play us, they may have nothing to play for. Let’s see. Of course a win at Hull would make that all irrelevant!

I think by the time we play Preston the worse case scenario is they are 8 pts behind Norwich with three games left so the match will still be very much live to them.

Being a pint half full man and on a brighter note a quick calculation of the league table based on the last 5 games played, has us in equal 8th position. Five teams on 10 points, 2 with 9 points then us equal with Leeds and Southampton on 8 points.
Of course that does not mean anything for the rest of this season but we must be have been doing something just a little right.
Re the comments above re Preston etc, playing a team that has nothing to play for is a double edge sword. They may not be interested, test a few players for next season and take it easy , or without any pressure can go all out and enjoy themselves playing with freedom while we may be under pressure.
On the other hand if teams like Preston know they have to beat us to stay in the play-off race they will be under pressure and that can be beneficial to us.
Just look at Blackburn who are playing like **** and should go down but scoring 5 and winning at Sunderland then letting in 5 and losing at Bristol City. Both opponents with nothing to play for although Bristol are top of the last 5 game form table.
Time for Leicester to get their act back together and give Plymouth a good thrashing tonight.
