As you say I think we have to expect this as a sign that we may have a good coach who will be linked with any open position.
Would he want to go to a potential relegation fight after being at Villa or stay with a team building project which could add another line to his CV? Difficult to say but Premier League and money talks. Not sure what his family situation is but if he has wife and kids at school in the Midlands while he is in London........
He is under contract so if Wolves want to talk to him they have to ask permission - which if granted would be an unwanted disturbance to the squad just as it is making a bit of progress. Just the rumour mill is a nuisance. Of course if they want to sign him we should be able to claim a chunk of compensation money - 5 million would seem a reasonable minimum point if we believe he can lead us to the play-offs or higher and Wolves can afford that easily.

Agreed - just waiting for reports that Liverpool are after him but I think as more PL teams start to struggle and the manager merry go round hots up his name will be banded around even more - unless we lose 10 in a row and he will suddenly become useless. Strange how quiet the board has been today considering we lost a game - not that I am complaining.

He seems a sensible chap so I am guessing he would want to spend more time learning about being a manager before moving to a bigger job. Or at least that is what I hope!

That's my thinking. He's such a work in progress...He'd be crazy to go to Premier League right now. (And I think Wolves would be crazy to appoint him. Major, major gamble.)
(Rangers might be slightly different - cos it's easier in one sense. But perhaps even more pressure there.)

Mick was asked the question about speculation on his future on QPR FC TV as part of the Cardiff prep interview and he dodged it. Unfortunately, I think it comes down to how serious they are and what the offer is.

Just listened to the interview but really be surprised if he moved so soon. Maybe at the end of the season but we gave him a chance to manage and his family are settled. Money talks of course but would think he would stay at this point. More chance of him going to Rangers than Wolves IMO.

"I've not had DIRECT contact"
So if they offer the job - and the offer is good - he's off (as I read it)
Which actually surprises me.

Wouldn't begrudge him a move to the Premier League or Rangers (he'd win the league with Rangers).
If he goes I would like to think people now have a bit more confidence that the board know what they're doing, who the kind of manager is that they want and who that person is.

Yes reading between the lines-as Macmoish says above-he could be tempted. Lets be honest: we all have a price and the right offer would be difficult to refuse.
He has experience at Premiership Villa(and they deteriorated when he left) and he has more or less proven his competence at QPR.
Whatever anyone says football is all about money....

I suppose it is what you get for hiring a good ambitious coach. I think Wolves is too soon for him, but Rangers may not be. I think if Rangers call he will jump. He cannot fail there. Even if he is not an immediate success there, he will finish second and in Europe. More dosh and an ideal steppingstone. Be interesting to see if we look derailed by it tonight.

It’s about money yes but also ambition.
He does mention his family are settled and happy. Maybe wrenching kids back out of school is less desirable.
But it is what it is. He dampened speculation but certainly didn’t extinguish it.

Not ideal on the day of a game. Looking bleaker now. Time to start a new thread on our next manager?

Obviously we have time pressures for appointment...Some of the options we considered in the summer presumably no longer there (have jobs)...And mid-season. I really know nothing about Axed-by-Watford, Edwards. But maybe...I'd at least consider an interim Warnock appointment. He's old and old way...But even a couple of years ago, he seems to make a good impact when he first gets to a club...It's long term obviously not...The World Cup is almost here.

I don’t think NW got on with a director of football last time did he ? Even if he took the role until World Cup break would help.

Agree Warnock is the only logical short term replacement, present tonight and can be on training ground tomorrow. Then spend World Cup break searching for new manager.

If he is the sort of man that would leave a club just like that, then he should stay away tonight and get the hell out tomorrow. Football is now a joke, a money machine, if he goes, i hope Wolves are relegated. That would be the perfect ending for me.

He should make a statement after this game however the result turns out. Cannot see why he would go to a club in the relegation zone of the prem.
We could well be coming up next season, either way the fans need to hear what his feelings are.

Wolves are an awful team. They think Beale will sort them. If he does good for him Hell make more money and we have to get a new manager. Not easy being a QPR fan. nb winning 2-0

I'll recon he'll stay if we offer him an enhanced package on a par or similar to the Wolves offer.
Also if he leaves not all our success is due to Beale. Sir Les and his team have made some very good signings which an incoming Manager can still put to good use.
