Early start for this thread but it looks like we will be missing the AFCON players at least www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-boss-currently-set-to-lose-key-duo-and-itll-be-tight-with-others-for-bournemouth-game Mark Warburton says he is preparing to be without key QPR duo Seny Dieng and Ilias Chair for the Boxing Day game against Bournemouth. Dieng, Chair and defender Osman Kakay are all due to jet out for the African Cup of Nations on Boxing Day to link up with Senegal, Morocco and Sierra Leone respectively, with Rangers still waiting to hear whether their requests for the trio to link up with their squads after December 27 has been granted. “We’re still waiting to be told. I’m told there’s meetings, but I don’t know what is going to be happen,” manager Warburton said. “I think they are due to fly out before the game, whether we can change that I don’t know, but it is getting very tight on days. “That is why it’s always a worry this time of year, the timing aspect, the clock aspect and getting the information going backwards and forwards, and I like to think we can keep one or two of them – but it is looking doubtful. “We need to find out when is the first game, the games programs is unique, in some countries in Europe there is a winter break but it is a manic time in our scheduling so some players who are reporting for Afcon will need game time and to get their match legs back. “But the coach may say ‘It is an international call-up and I want them with me from day one.’ “We don’t know and it is trying to have these negotiations, but we have language barriers and this is just another one of the challenges clubs face when there is a tournament at this time of year.” “Whereas the UK-based players are the opposite and is there any kind of discussion there where you might have players who are playing on the 26th, 27th 28th of December in the Premier League or the Championship and will maybe not have to travel on that day? Rangers lost 10 squad members due to Covid-19 isolation but Chair and Dieng were able to train last week ahead, which Warburton says has made preparations for the Bournemouth match very difficult. “You have to prepare that you may have them or may not. When you have seven or eight players training and Ilias and Seny are two of them it’s very hard to work on an aspect of play when they are not going to be here,” he said. “It’s a really difficult one to deal with; players are sick, players are coming back, players are disappearing for Covid, are they going to go are they not (to AFCON), are there replacements available, can we afford them?” The Covid-enforced break in fixtures could lead to a return to the matchday squad of wing-backs Albert Adomah and Lee Wallace, who have been sidelined with hamstring injuries, with fit-again duo Moses Odubajo and Lyndon Dykes likely to be in the squad. “Yesterday was the first time we welcomed back after 10 days a full group of players, so the last two matches we simply could not have fielded a team,” Warburton said. “But what it has done is given us a chance to see if we can Lee fit enough for Monday, that will be tight, whether Albert will be fit, again that is tight. “But I have to be mindful that we have games on the 30th and January 2 so we can’t just throw players back in as they will break down again. “All these things are going on when you have games to prepare for on the 27th, 30th, the 2nd.”

Keith Stroud is the referee.....oh joy! I wonder if has decided who he is going to penalize in a hooped shirt yet? How is he still officiating? Why even then give him high profile games?

BTW - Bournemough have said that their AFCON players will be available on Monday. Not necessarily the same countries of course. But without Dieng, Kakay and Chair and playing 12th man Stroud, the task is suddenly huge.

Stoud is just going to have chose shirt numbers because even the club do not who can play. Otherwise he will go for at least one red card from Charlie, Barbet or Wallace or shock everyone with Johansen.

LFW said he cant keep up with the play. Too corpulent. So why the dickens do the FA keep these refs going on. Maybe they have a contact? Incidentally have anyone seen a black referee or assistant. I haven't,

I haven't,Yes I have seen different ethnic refs and assistants, females, and no doubt others of different persuasions and different religions officiating up to and including international games. I think it was a recent World Cup qualifier that had a full female team of officials including the 4th ref and they did a very good job. Far too little diversity among officials in the game still but long may it continue. Frankly I could not care less who or what they are in their private lives as long as they make the right decisions on the pitch and do not show any of the prejudice, sporting or otherwise, that they probably have to tolerate themselves on a daily basis. I can imagine that some officials of different backgrounds must face a difficult time when officiating some of the modern small minded players who have used social media to abuse the style of life or backgrounds from which the officials come. As for Stroud - as a last resort we can always hope he gets "pinged" today as a covid contact and has to self isolate (without getting sick as no one deserves that)

The last quote I saw from Warbs was that all 3 are going to be close, hoping that Albert and Wallace will make it but not so sure on Dykes. Also he will not rush them back as we have 3 games in quick succession and would not want to risk having them break down again by playing too soon. Still it seems we will have a decent squad to choose from but our preparation time will have been very limited for a game of this importance waiting for isolations to end. I am not holding out too much hope but even a draw would put us back up to 5th. We need to come out of the blocks quickly and not take half the game to get going again.

That was never a free in - or a booking for Field. Inevitable they would score from it.

We always do this with teams like Bournemouth. Let them beat us when other teams sense their vulnerability and get points off them.

No arguments not playing for. 3 1/2 weeks made us very rusty and tire at the end . Once Bournemouth scored could not see us getting a draw even. It was always going to be like this for the game we returned, shame it was Bournemouth.

Bournemouth are a horrible nasty team to play against. Parker just said it is a man's game By that I take it he menas niggling and winding up and following through. Warburton did not think Dozzell was a sending off. For me he raised his fists, had a player by the throat - it should have been a straight red and 3 game ban. Pearson should have been a straight red as well. Refs do nothing to stop the play acting, week after week, not sure why we lost it so much in this game though. But, the substitutions were too late, our shape was all wrong without Chair and with Dykes totally isolated. Stroud is awful.... but we know that! Hey-ho!

Even without Strouds help, Bournemouth deserved to win, in fact it should have been 3-0, how they missed those two sitters is beyond me. Really off the pace today paying the price for not playing, no one put in a good performance apart from Senny who kept us in the game. Let’s hope for better against Bristol.

3 weeks without playing, disjointed training due to player isolations and boy did it show. It was almost as if playing the 1st game of the season without a preseason.
Let's hope we're sharper on Thursday.

Let's hope we're sharper on Thursday. Yep, to be fair, two more games in 6 days is the last thing we need. I fear for the outcome. Bournemouth now have 6 winnable games ahead of them - I think they could well pull away again. But I hate the way Parker makes a talented team play. I hate even more how effective it is. But even though we were not fully fit, there is no escaping that our full backs have no longevity. The Cook stories gathering momentum after he was left out of the squad yesterday, but stories of Dickie to Newcastle also building.

Various thoughts:
To be honest it was actually slightly better than I expected . My concern before the game was a lack of matches since the start of December, players not fully training, no real collective preparation time for the squad and Bournemouth despite their recent run are not to be underestimated. Pity that they let the bully side of their game take over from the skill they have, add on the ref and although we did not deserve anything the loss leaves a bitter taste.
So after 30 consecutive games scoring we have had 2 blanks at home in a row and given up 6 points. Every team in the Championship will have a bad run at some stage this season so maybe this is the start of ours. With a couple of away games in quick succession I expect that this will be our bad run. Having said that it is not a bad time to have it - better than late in the season. The test is going to be to keep it as short as possible 5 or 6 games max as Bournemouth did, and to pick up a few points still to keep the leading pack in sight. Then we need to bounce back and get back into that top 6.
I do not think we have any hope of a top 2 now but certainly I still think a play-off spot is possible. Much will depend on how quickly we can bounce back, how badly the break has impacted us, injuries, Covid, Afcon - so many unknowns but no reason to get downhearted only half way through the season.
On a positive/negative line It will be interesting to see how bad Chair's knock is. Obviously we want him to play as much as possible but if he were to say miss the next couple of games, giving him a break having played so much already this season, and be declared unfit for Afcon, but then able to play for us through January and February, maybe his knock could be a good thing. As usual just me trying to find a silver lining but onwards and upwards to Bristol where we never seem to do well but anything could happen.
Glad to see Field back. Maybe rusty but if he and Johansen can get it back together we will be a stronger balanced team. Dozzell is coming on nicely son having him in place of Chair is a bonus.
Lastly maybe there is some truth in Cook joining us with is absence from the squad last night. It could just be Parker keeping him fit for anyone who makes the best offer but it could be sign we are close to getting him. If we do make any signings in January I hope they are at teh start of the window so new players can blend in quickly.

Just seen that Brum's match on Wednesday is off due to Covid in their camp. Their match at Fulham last weekend was also off. So with normal isolation periods we can expect that our game with them on Sunday will go ahead but they will probably be in the same situation as we were last night with little or no preparation time. The last thing we need is another postponement and a growing fixture pile up.
Sadly this is not the way the league should be decided with under strength or under prepared teams playing others who have not had enforced breaks - which is why I was in favour of calling off all games for 3 weeks or so and at least have all teams on an equal basis.
