At least the result keeps Derby below us for now and games in hand
Bournemouth are showing signs of coming out of their bad run since their change of manager so today will be difficult. 3 points would start to give us a comfortable cushion from the bottom 3 and depending on other results put us close to the top half. However a draw would not be a bad result. Can we win 4 in a row - chance tells me not but who knows as long as we keep the unbeaten run going.
I like the predictions of Harr for today's games above but expect a few upsets as usual.

We won’t have to worry if we keep playing like this. Not a great day for other bottom teams losing with Cov, Birmingham, Huddersfield and Forest winning. Losses for Sheff Weds , Rotherham and Derby . Let’s keep this run going a little bit longer Rangers

As Warburton said after the game this league can come up and bite you at any time. We have to keep going and not relax. Take Brentford for example - 21 games unbeaten then lose 3 in a row.
The picture will not be clear until the postponed games are all played and we can compare apples to apples.
The next 6 games are vital. If we can pick up another 10 or 12 points we will be sitting safe and probably heading for a meaningless end of season. If we hit a bad run it will not take long before we are looking at what is happening below us, while if we pick up 15 points, dreams (unrealistic maybe) of scrapping into the play-offs will start to emerge.
It is all down to consistency and after some tough games not relaxing against mid table teams is key. Preston away is good example - they are tough at home but seem to have the wood on us so another interesting game coming up.

Well we won away at Preston last year but before that was about 40 years ago, it was a long long time ago. Never a place we have done well at.

I think that one of the consequences of the Covid late start/ no crowds / 2 games a week season has been that teams go on far more pronounced runs of form / and losses. This partly because injuries to key players mean that they miss far more matches than would be usual. It means that when confidence drops then there is no crowd to lift them. It means that home advantage counts for little and that social media can be even louder with more fans watching live games - I certanly watch more away games than ever. Teams like Middlesborough, Bournemouth and Huddersfield recently dropped to the bottom of the form table, then start winning games on the trot. Bristol City (with an expensive squad) cannot even get a point from any where. Luton and Blackburn had fine runs but are dropping like a stone. Likewise, Brentford's run of 21 games followed by 3 straight losses, Cardiff's unbeaten run under McCarthy, Barnsley now close to the play offs, - and even little 'old QPR. We have won games in our good run that earlier in the season we were losing. I am not saying that there are not key reasons for our run, but I am saying that this season more than ever, it is all about runs. We have played better than in some of our recent games and lost. We play Preston on Wednesday who are on an appalling run. They currently have to rely on Ched Evans up front due to injuries and because with so many out of contract in the Summer, they are already building for next season. But everything would point to a QPR victory looking at the form table, but in reality, it is just about when one run stops and another begins for both teams. I hope it is after we play them though!

I think another thing that has improved since the Jan window and the 3-4 new signings is Charlie has brought about the team a new confidence and belief and with that the defence when crumbled has looked far more solid. That and of course the new system.

All 6 games tonight (Tuesday) to end in draws and a win for us tomorrow would be good - means we would pick up 2 points on all those playing today either above or below us. Of course I have just put the jinx on that and we will lose 3-0 tomorrow.

Losses for Rotherham and Birmingham the most important two, loss for Huddersfield.
Win for Derby , Forest and Wycombe.
As Marc says Pearson gets a win for Bristol C, Only in the stands I think.
Bees win or draw and Swans win tomorrow, wonder if we can keep our run going another week, take a draw. Brentford v Sheffield Wednesday Swansea City v Coventry City

Safety is paramount and seem to have more than the lesser teams so not that worried about relegation. Dreaming a little about playoffs but just hope Fulham stay up so we can keep the danish marvel on permanent in the summer! .. If Austin is offered one last big payday, as much as I love him , he’ll go to highest bidder , just like Wells.

Sheff Weds 2-0 down so anything we can get a bonus...looks like losses for Rotherham Birmingham and Sheff Weds perfect week.
Talking the top end , Bournemouth 2 down to Cardiff who would join them 6th.
But if we could somehow get a win, we would be 7 pts off play offs with two games in hand.
There that’s the only time I will mention the P word this week.
Listening to the game Preston seem the better team and Dykes again had a couple of chances.

The Good News part one. Happy to keep another clean sheet and keep the unbeaten run going.
The Good News part two. In mid table we have 2 games in hand on the. teams above which if we win will see us in an interesting position for the run in.
The Bad news. Last night we looked like the run of games caught up with us physically and maybe mentally so we may need to rotate the squad a bit more now to keep things going.
The Maybe news. 7 games to come in the next 23 days. After those (in theory) we could already be safe and even have one eye on a play-off spot. But as stated above we looked tired last night and this next run of games will be hard. We have some easier looking games (on paper) among those games but we do seem to do better against the top teams than the mid table to lower teams. What we need to avoid is any more fixture pile up through any more Covid postponements.

Training or playing games? I know which I prefer and preferred as a player. Playing actual matches was much more fun. These guys are professionals, they should be lapping it up. No more running up and down sandhills to keep the fitness up.

I will be more than happy with a draw Saturday, make sure Birmingham don’t gain 3 pts on us and hope Sheff Weds and Rotherham draw too.

Training or playing games? I know which I prefer and preferred as a player. Playing actual matches was much more fun. These guys are professionals, they should be lapping it up. No more running up and down sandhills to keep the fitness up. I would agree that playing can more fun than training. However with training there are a multitude of exercises, practice and techniques used these days and the days of just running to keep fit are long gone. Additionally the modern game is pretty much non stop often high speed action that is far more tiring than a practice session. On top of that, in these Covid days with the lack of the hospitality industry, players face a gruelling schedule. I do not know their precise schedule but would imagine they travelled to Preston on Wednesday morning, played the game, travelled back late at night and arrived home in the early hours of Thursday. That would be followed by probably light training later on Thursday leaving just Friday to prepare and practice tactics for Saturdays game, with little time to get over any knocks picked up in the Preston game. Then travel to Birmingham on Saturday morning, play the game and travel home again arriving late Saturday night. That sort of schedule puts a strain on all teams no matter how fit they are. If it happens once or twice a season there is no problem but when it is week after week for a couple of months I would think even the fittest will start to get tired plus the mental side of moving through games so quickly. The players are well paid (even with our wage cap) and are trained to be fit so should not complain and so far I have not heard any of our players complain, although some have passed comments about the schedule. I expect the run in this season will a case of survival of the fittest at both ends of the table with those clubs having large squads better equipped to handle things. So I would like to see us get another 12 or 15 points on the board as soon as possible which will not only avoid any chance of a relegation fight but may even put us on teh fringe of a battle to the play-offs if other fade.
