in 10 days time we have to submit our 25 man squad to the EFL for the first time. Under 21s do not count so Bettache and Gubbins are excluded. But we currently have 28 other players listed. So three will either move on or be left out until at least January. It emphasises why a keeper needs to move on though. If we sign anyone else, over 21 then someone else needs to head to the exit. I have listed our 28 named players below and the new rules.
Lumley
Kane
Wallace
Dickie
Barbet
Bonne
Amos
Dykes
Chair
Osayi-Samuel
Ball
Dieng
Manning
Shadipo
Oteh
Thomas
Cameron
Willock
Carroll
Masterson
Kakay
Hamalainen
Ramkilde
Owens
Kelly
Alfa
Adomah
Smyth
Under 21s - Bettache & Gubbins
43.9 Squad Lists
43.9.1 Clubs shall be permitted to name up to a maximum number of Players in their Squad
List based on the following provisions:
(a) in respect of Championship Clubs, 25 Players of which a minimum of 8 must be a Home Grown Player;
(b) in respect of League One and Two Clubs:
(i) in Season 2020/21, 22 Players of which a minimum of 8 must be a Home Grown Player; and
(ii) in Season 2021/22 and each subsequent Season, 20 Players of which a minimum of 8 must be a Home Grown Player.
The limit set out in Regulation 43.9.1(b)(ii) increases to 22 for any Club relegated into League One, for its first Season following relegation.
43.9.2 The following Players do not need to be included in the Squad List to be eligible to play in League Matches:
(a) in respect of Championship Clubs, any Under 21 Player (save for any Under 21 Player who is registered with the Club on a Temporary Loan Transfer); and
(b) in respect of League One Clubs and League Two Clubs, any Under 21 Players.
Guidance
Under 21 Players who are on Loan to Championship Clubs are counted towards the 25 Player limit for the purpose of the Squad List Regulation.
43.9.3 Each Club shall submit its Squad List to The League:
(a) within 24 hours of the conclusion of the Summer Transfer Window; or
(b) such other date and time as may be notified by the Board

Suspect we might loan out three from Lumley/Kelly, Oteh, Smyth and Alfa (who might count as U21?) and possibly Ramkilde if we bring in another striker.
BOS and Manning might still leave if Prem clubs com in for them over the next 9 days.

I would assume this is also why we have not got in any loan players and are not likely to? Also why is it the rules change when it affects us the most.... finally have a healthy squad .... can't use them all...typical !!

The 25 man rule will have a big impact and place greater emphasis on the youth set ups, so I am glad that the new training ground ticks a box for us. But it also further explains Warburton’s comments about not playing ‘contract rebels’. It is one thing saying that he will not play them, but it is another step to leave them out of the 25 making them ineligible to play leaving them to face the next 10-14 weeks in the under 23s. In Manning’s case it would be a brave decision, but in the case of Lumley, it may well be the case that clubs can no longer afford 3 of the slots to be occupied by keepers. Increasingly., the third keeper will be an under 21. Perhaps there will be a provision for emergency keeper loans anyway, but who knows? So once Dieng signed, the third keeper faced a spell of ineligibility. If indeed we did offer Lumley a new contract, it was presumably a big step down, including his current year. As the shortest contract, he has basically been told to find another club or take 3 months off – back up keepers do not even play for the QPR under 23s. Presumably, the club would be prepared to let him go for nothing because the new rule must have decimated the value of third choice keepers with the squads in tier 3 and 4 even smaller than the Championship. Quite amazing that Notts Forest only have 25 players over the age of 21 including 3 keepers. That is after bringing in 13 new signings. www.footballsquads.co.uk/eng/2020-2021/flcham/nottmf.htm

Thanks ricky.
I certainly wssn't aware of this regulation & I suspect that will apply to many others.
That will leave a lot of players at Forest with no chance of playing before January! I'm assuming that the 25 can be changed after the next transfer window.
I've posted these regulations on LFW quoting ricky & qpreport as my source. Well done ricky on knowing about this!

Got the impression Ramkilde was seen as being at a different point in his development and signed more as a longer term 'project'. I'd imagine he'd be spending his time in the U23s prior to potentially going on loan?

24 hours to go and the squad stands at 28, so a net 3 to miss out. There is a lot of noise about Ramkilde being in legal dispute with the club, so I guess he is one of the three. Perhaps Smyth is the second to miss out and going out on loan. Masterson will only depart if one come in. so he is not one. Likewise Manning & BOS, So the final slot is presumably between: Kelly, Lumley, Oteh, Shadipo, Owens and Alfa
Joe Lumley Todd Kane Lee Wallace Rob Dickie Yoaan Barbet Macauley Bonne Luke Amos Lyndon Dykes Ilias Chair Bright Osayi-Samuel Dominic Ball Seny Dieng Ryan Manning Oamdi Shadipo Aramide Oteh George Thomas Geoff Cameron Chris Willock Tom Carroll Conor Masterson Osman Kakay Nico Hamalainen Marco Ramkilde Charlie Owens Liam Kelly Ody Alfa Albert Adomah Paul Smyth

I thought the transfer/loan window was open until tomorrow? If so is there a time when you have to submit your squad? Just seems a bit odd clubs still after players and having to submit their squads on the same day .

You can add Kelman to the under 21's ricky.
The loan of Oteh to Stevenage leaves us with two on ther list to be left out. Unless we sign anyone else of course!

Assuming that the Manning sale goes ahead, we're left with 24
Joe Lumley Todd Kane Lee Wallace Rob Dickie Yoaan Barbet Macauley Bonne Luke Amos Lyndon Dykes Ilias Chair Bright Osayi-Samuel Dominic Ball Seny Dieng George Thomas Geoff Cameron Chris Willock Tom Carroll Conor Masterson Osman Kakay Nico Hamalainen Marco Ramkilde Charlie Owens Liam Kelly Ody Alfa Albert Adomah

There is also Dalling to add in although he does not have a squad number. Of course, we can still sign out of contract players so perhaps with Manning departing (and 2 wingers out on loan) we could still sign Andre Green.

No confirmation anywhere, but I suspect that we have until Monday 5pm to submit our 25. Presumably, clubs have been notified?
3.9.3 Each Club shall submit its Squad List to The League:
(a) within 24 hours of the conclusion of the Summer Transfer Window; or
(b) such other date and time as may be notified by the Board.
Guidance
The inclusion of this power is to amend the deadline for submitting Squad Lists where the 24 hour deadline would impact on a weekend/bank holiday.
43.9.4 A Club shall apply to:
(a) include a Player on its Squad List; and/or
(b) remove a Player from its Squad List,
by submitting a request to that effect to The League (in such manner as The League shall direct from time to time).
Guidance All details to be uploaded via iFAS.
43.9.5 A Player shall be deemed to have been included or removed from a Club’s Squad List on receipt of The League’s confirmation of the same (which may be given electronically).
43.9.6 Changes to a Squad List may be made:
(a) during the period of a Transfer Window; and
(b) at other times only with the permission of The League.
Guidance
The League will consider granting permission to a change to the Squad List during a Transfer Window where:
the Club’s current Squad List contains less than the maximum number of Players permitted to be included on the Squad List; or the Club’s current Squad List contains the maximum number of Players permitted to be included on the Squad List, the Club must apply to remove a Player from its Squad List (and have received written confirmation from The League) before applying to add the new Player. The League will only consider granting permission to make changes to the Squad List outside of a Transfer Window where:
the Club’s current Squad List contains less than the maximum number of Players permitted to be included on the Squad List and the Club wishes to add an Out of Registration Player or another Player registered with the Club but not currently included on the Squad List, or in other truly exceptional circumstances.

Amazing that Hector did not complete his loan move to QPR given the following SSN article. 31 instead of 25 is pretty bad management in my book.
PARKER'S CHALLENGE TO TRIM DOWN SQUAD
Scott Parker admitted he has a big challenge in selecting his 25-man squad as his side look to put their poor start to this Premier League campaign behind them.
The Cottagers are currently rooted to the foot of the Premier League table with no points from their first four matches.
Parker currently has a squad of 31 to trim down to 25, following a number of transfers including loan signings Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Joachim Andersen as well as permanent deals for Kenny Tete and Antonee Robinson.
When asked how much of a challenge it will be to manage the squad, Parker said: "(A) big challenge.
"Obviously of course a very big squad, trying to trim that down was - but obviously that's a job now for me in terms of how to manage players, manage individuals and manage the team dynamics that gives us the best chance of keeping that cohesion amongst the players, it gives us the best chance to be successful this year.
"This is a challenge which is one of many we're going to face this year. I'm right in saying that there is going to be players who won't get into that 25-man squad so players need game time and players obviously will try and get that if they can.
"If not then it'll be a challenge, but one which is our concern and we had that last year as well."

If Amos is out for the season can we replace him in the 25 man squad if needed - I assume that could only happen with FA/EFL approval. I have not seen the final official list so it may be that we are less than 25 anyway. It is an extreme thought but I was just reading about Jack Wilshire who is a free agent and training in the park having been paid off by West Ham. While he is keeping fit he is missing player contact and ball playing while he thinks about which club he may be able to go to, especially in view of his injury record. With Amos out why would we not let Wilshire train with us, signed on a pay as play contract within our salary range - he must have enough cash to do that if he is keen to keep fit and playing pending a longer term future. As I say an extreme thought but if we want a play maker to set up our 2 strikers for a few months why not? To be honest I thought about Wiltshire when he was mentioned in a previous post Possibly by yourself. Now I would love to see him in our midfield. I came to the conclusion that I can't help feeling that Wiltshire has made his money and probably dose not need to "work" again and that probably goes for most Premiership free agents. Therefore I can't see it happening or working other than a pay as you play contract as that would at least show his commitment.
