Disagree with a few bits in that. On Shodipo, I think that if that was to happen, he'd be sensible enough to know what the deal is. It's the last game of the season, BOS is a better wide attacker than him - BOS was left out not to scupper a deal, if the deal falls through, he goes back in. Nothing personal and Shodipo knows he still has a good chance here. But again, speculation. I'm also not that sure that the Belgian top division is such a big step up for him. If BOS keeps up the level of ability he's done in the second half of this season, he'd do fine there. Not doing it down but playing in the European Cup is a bit of a red herring, standards-wise - it means they're one of the better clubs in Belgium, not one of the better teams in Europe. Yeah, a huge step-up if they end up playing Juve or Bayern in the CL, but that would be a massive step-up in opposition for every player in a Brugges shirt. I think it's a good step for him to potentially play in Europe, scouts are everywhere, it could lead anywhere for him. But I'm not convinced we'd get him to agree personal terms to uproot himself to a different country to sit on the bench at his age. I take the point about the Belgian league not being a step up - at least half of the league are no better than Championship level. My point is not smooch about the league but Club Brugge who in Belgium are the equivalent of a Celtic in Scotland or a Liverpool or Man City in England because they are dominant and are regulars in the European Cup. This season they took on Dynamo Kiev PSG and Real Madrid and their only bad result was a 5-0 loss to PSG. They had a win and draw against Kiev and were 2-0 up away to Madrid only being held to a draw after a very late sending off led to a Madrid equaliser. So while taking on Belgian domestic games would not be a big step up being part of the Brugge squad would be much more of a stretch as would playing against the likes of this seasons opponents in the Champions league. Given all that it would be interesting to know why the deal fell through. In herms of opportunity it would seem a good move if he has faith in himself and certainly he would have received a better financial offer than we have made. My only guess would be that he wanted more than Brugge would pay him or that his agent has managed to line something up better financially in England. Yeah fair point, Scotland is a good comparison there. I suppose in the same way you can't really judge the quality of the overall Belgian league by comparison to Brugges, you wouldn't be able to judge the quality of the Eredivisie based on Ajax when the gap between them and say, Den Haag, is so gigantic. I just looked at the Belgian top division - Brugges played 29, won 21 - I knew they were big fish but had no idea they were quite that dominant haha. Has the deal fallen through? Like you say though, only reason I could see it breaking down is if he gets a better offer at a higher level in England.

being reported Bos has turned it down as there are interested Premier League clubs in him Leicester being one That's got to be for the money, he will be playing Champions league if he goes to Brugge. But then the Prem is supposedly the league to play in so perhaps it could be for footballing reasons.

Young, staying closer to family, unlikely to know anyone (players always seem to know someone at another English club from old clubs, youth football etc). Bit of CL football obviously a draw but a big upheaval, particularly if there's more money on offer without moving abroad.

As mentioned thought what they are offering was light, considering what some clubs have been playing over the past year or two. However, I guess there could be a drop down now since Covid and will be interesting to see if we notice a slide in valuations and fees in these new times. I would hope we get a sell on deal. Another point is I believe we have to pay some to Blackpool as part of there sell on.

Another point is I believe we have to pay some to Blackpool as part of there sell on. My (purely speculative) take on where we are at with this now is that it's been quite stage-managed. Leaking the £3m original bid in March via WLS effectively sets a minimum price and alerts other clubs. Now, we're talking a figure of £4.5m - either through us bullying Brugges or other clubs sniffing about with bids. Now the transfer window hasn't happened yet, so no matter how firm the interest is, it's effectively open to hijacking should BOS not sign. Us "accepting" a bid is the club effectively saying, if no-one else bids more, we'd take this in principle...but beyond that, doesn't mean much for now. The more serious that deal looks, the more risk any interested Prem sides have in leaving the deal late. They know we're fine to sell, but also know we're apparently happy with £4.5m and are holding onto to a firm offer...so Leicester/West Ham/whoever have to move it or lose it. Everyone knows we need to rebuild, and rebuilding costs money - so my guess is we're being quite 'open' about this bit of business because if BOS is going to go, we probably need him to go ASAP, early in the window, so we know exactly what can kind of money we'll then be able to spend. Or in short, after a good amount of effectively waving a for sale sign above BOS in the press, the Brugges £4.5m agreed fee is being used as leverage to get any interested Prem sides to beat that bid, and beat it quickly.

QPR player ‘was and still is very close’ to move – Desire to play CL key in decision By Tom Coast - 22nd July 2020 Over the past couple of days, there have been a number of rumours suggesting that Bright Osayi-Samuel could be heading to Leicester following a breakdown in his transfer to Club Brugge. However, if Walfoot are to be believed, that isn’t quite the case, as they maintain the Queens Park Rangers winger ‘was and still is very close’ to sealing a move to the Belgian side.
What’s holding up the deal is that the 22-year-old ‘wants to wait until the end of the league in order to take the best decision possible for himself’.
Articles have been published about Leicester City’s attempts to hijack the deal, and whether they qualify for the Champions League or not could be crucial.
Walfoot state the QPR man ‘wants to play’ in the elite European competition next year, and with Brugge already qualified via winning the league, they have the advantage.
Furthermore, the website state Philippe Clément’s side ‘aren’t in a rush’, as their first port of call is to win the Belgian Cup with the current squad before moving onto summer recruits.

I think his head was not on the game tonight, shame really but it happens sometimes when there’s a lot of talk about going. If we get Five Million clear after what we owe Blackpool I guess not to bad in these dire times but anything more would be nice. like you say we need to do a bit of rebuilding now, let’s hope we get the right mix again.
