I must say season after season I do sometimes scratch my head and think are we actually going forwards as a Club in terms of points achieved.
Let’s face it, until we start improving our points tally we won’t be going anywhere soon.
The Championship is a cracking League but wouldn’t it be great to finish say in the top 8 or 10.
For sure we have had so much to deal with through FFP and have had to change the way we do things as a Club and be very strict on players fees and wages.
We have bought some decent young players and nurtured some of our own which is all very refreshing.
Certainly seem to have bought more good than bad in the last 2-3 years.
Whilst we appear to be playing better football most games, we do however continue to leak goals, hardly ever keep a clean sheet and in terms of match points achieved nothing is really changing apart from the fact we have avoided relegation for the last 4-5 years.
As of today we are sitting in about the same position as last year under Steve McClaren.
Don’t get me wrong here, I certainly am not even thinking of changing our Manager MW position but wouldn’t it be nice to actually finish a season on a high?
I guess we are consistent but not really going forwards again in terms of table positions, which has been the same
since 2016.
January 29 game marker.
2015-16 .....29 games ..... 36 points 14 th (CR)(JFH)
2016-17......29 games ......37 points 15 th (JFH) (IH)
2017-18......29 games ......33 points 17 th (IH)
2018-19......29 games.......39 points 14 th (SM)
2019-20......29 games.......38 points 14 th (MW)
Maybe time to sort that defence out once and for all?
I just hope we can have a strong finish to a season but without Wells wonder if we will just fall back into mediocrity again.
