What happened to him? Did we sell him off or is he injured. I thought we might be getting into a dynasty with his father, so special

Good Lord. Having to see off our best prospects, I find so hard to take.Just means more mediocrity ahead. Or are we so broke thats the only way to survive?

Good Lord. Having to see off our best prospects, I find so hard to take.Just means more mediocrity ahead. Or are we so broke thats the only way to survive? Took the money offered (which seemed a fair price) and replaced on a free with equal , if not better ability! I think in the future we’ll see Furlong as a centre back but the decision was there to be made once the offer came in. I wouldn’t beat the club up over taking the money as we are now a selling club but with a sensible wage structure and no need to sell, hopefully we’ll get fees like Brentford, Bristol City and the like.

But is it all the massive money we spent in our losing forays in the Prem?

The follow on from that is that I think our perspective as a fanbase got massively skewed during the last 10 years.
Even if you take the punitive FFP fine out of the equation, what we are doing now is not much different to what a lot of far better run clubs around our size have been doing for years and years.
Or to put it another way, football is skewed to the top and we have to graft to survive and be sustainable. FFP and mismanagement may have forced our hand, but what we are now doing is what we should have been doing ages ago. So I try to think optimistically about the examples clubs like Preston and Brentford have set and how we as a club can grow by selling talent for a profit and replacing it cheaply with gems. I'd have loved Furlong to stay but selling a player we developed for decent money and replacing him with Kane is exactly what we should be doing.
It can look a bit depressing, but then, it may well look a lot rosier when we compare how we are set up by comparison to how a lot of clubs in this division are going to be battered for their over spending in the next few seasons.

This season was always going to be the toughest for us financially.
Firstly, it is our first without a parachute payment meaning that our income has dropped by around £12 million (£16.6 million parachute payment replaced by a £4.5 million solidarity payment).
Secondly, it will be the hardest to adhere to FFP. To keep it simple and to exclude undisclosed costs and allowances from the argument, lets assume that our disallowable costs are the same each season and that we always brush up against our rolling 3-year £39 million limit. That means that the loss we can make in any season is equivalent to the one made three seasons ago. The loss made in 2016/17 (£6.5 million) is the smallest that QPR has made since the inception of FFP. So not only have to reduce our loss, we have less income to do it with.
Lee Hoos, Les Ferdinand, Chris Ramsey, Gary Penrice and Mark Warburton have done a incredible job getting the squad we have together under these circumstances
Next season we enter the calmer waters of having adjusted to living without parachute payments and have a much larger loss (£22.5 million) rolling out of our FFP equation. While we will still be a selling club, we will be doing so from a much stronger position. Hoos may choose to start to streamline our losses to remove the peaks and troughs, but it will all become irrelevant as we are winning the Championship this season.

Thanks Roller, really explains everything, I think. Like the stronger position for next season.

West Brom Currently 2-2 Furlong just scored. The first goal scored By Phillips, assisted Austin. Scared what damage they might inflict next week.

I can't imagine that Furlong will have anything like the time & space he was given today.
Don't worry what West Brom can create, They will spend all week worrying about what we can!
