Not a bad lineup. Who's this Liam Kelly? Any good? Well soon know.

Just on the way home. Pretty poor, loads of possession but very little cutting edge. Pompey didn't offer much - penalty (which looked legitimate, if a bit soft) took the wind out of us.
Worth saying that for their second, either Barbet was knackered or simply couldn't be arsed to track the runner. Both a positive and negative that that was the only attack I can remember them looking dangerous, really.
Pugh looked knackered. Genuinely can't remember much else, was a dull and disappointing evening.
Seen us play worse than that in the cup and we had some good moments - and a relative sitter for Wells at the end, but shows you the fine margins of our style of play I guess. When it clicks and we move at pace, we look very dangerous. When we don't, we look soft.
Oh well, on we go.
Edit: oh and I still can't tell why Eze had his goal disallowed. Someone offside judging by the flag.

Was at game tonight. My views. Lacklustre standard first half. Had a good spell and should have scored. Didn’t look troubled. Barbet and BFG looked comfortable. Second half a complete shambles. No off the ball movement, pressing or intensity. Brainless challenge for pen. AGAIN. BFG done for pace and Barbet (the French Lynch?) caught napping to allow unchallenged tap in. Owens. Not ready. (Despite Warburton’s endorsement. Will he start next league game?). Mlakar. Shite. Lone striker with no movement or hold up play. Huge worry if Hugill or Wells are injured/suspended. Kelly? Why give away a guaranteed yellow by picking up ball and handing to Marquis at pen. twat. 3rd sub. Ball for Pugh at 0-0? Is that going to win us the game? Hugely disappointing night. BFG is perfect in a back 3 with Barbet and Hall as was proved in second half vs Wigan. Does the dirty work the others can’t. Otherwise too slow and limited. My bottom line and ultimate gripe with my beloved QPR. TAKE THE CUP COMPETITIONS SERIOUSLY!!!!! I understand league is bread and butter but cup games are special for the fans. Realistically we don’t expect to win a cup (yet). But a cup draw against a big club is magical for fans. (Full house vs Watford. Imagine if it was Man. Utd, Liverpool or dare I say it Chelsea!!!) We will remember a cup win against a big club far more than a a 1.0 home win against Barnsley in the league. Play your strongest team every game and stop cheating supporters. If we then lose at least we gave it our best, honest shot. Your current policy is cheating fans of great memories and that’s why cup crowds are shit and Ellerslie was shut. Change your attitude and bigger attendances will follow for cup games. Just my opinion but whatever. COME ON YOU RRRRRRR’s!!!!!!

We were equally mystified about Eze's non-goal at the time Bow, but apparently Wells was obstructing the goalkeepers view from an offside position.
Disappointing match. We lacked intensity, were disjointed and were continually let down by our final ball. To be fair, on a good number of occasions there was no one in a decent position to receive it as typified by one of Osayi-Samuel's rare breaks down our right and every single one of our players raced to the goal line, no one held back. I doubt he could see any of them when he looked up. We did fashion two very presentable chances but both Pugh and Wells could only direct their efforts straight at their keeper. Once Chair went off we may as well have all packed up and gone home as he was the only real threat we had.
Leistner played well, but was suckered into giving them a penalty. He was exposed for pace for their second, but the responsibility lies with Barbet (who gave the ball away) and Ball (we'd switched to 3 at the back by then as we did succesfully last Saturday) who made no effort to get back and cover.
It was a match neither side deserved to win.

Another cup game another defeat, something we are used to I guess. Portsmouth need to pay us a bonus as a home time against Southampton in the next round is a big money spinner for the Club and truly the magic of the cup working again.
We looked disjointed but given the team I guess to be expected. I hate these numbers and names on the shirts as it makes it almost impossible to read from the back of the SAR, get them sorted Rangers in a different and more contrasting colour please!
We have no edge joining forward and once Chair went off the writing was probably on the wall. Given Pompley are a league lower and who knows if they played their first team there was no differencein class. We were both pretty inept going forward and so were they, They bossed in midfield, certainly in the second half and on the state of play they deserved to win.
The big German looked pretty composed but so he should but the Frenchman looks a liability and I'm not sure we are good enough for all the build up play from the back.
Cup over, forget about it and move on.

Your comment about them bossing midfield is where the game was lost IMHO. We looked comfortable at the back for most of the game, we just didn't have anything moving the ball from midfield. 2 very young inexperienced players in the centre of the park was a surprise to me. Any thoughts on Blakar? He wasn't getting the best of opportunities but what I saw wasn't great, don't think he won a header all night? and looked clumsy when he did get the ball.

why was a perfectly good goal disallowed looked at a few times still can't decide why it was ,a soft penalty also ,how many more penalties are we going to concede through the season first of all it was the Frenchman conceding them now BFG I thought when Lynch went it would be better but it seems we still have a problem ,I also think some of the players are not comfortable plating out from the back which the breadman wants anyway only one more cup to worry about ,so it's off to the Owls on Sat in the league 😀

No pressure on us to win any Cups or have cup runs. Very freeing to finish in a mid table position.

I didn't think Mlakar looked that bad but it does make me wonder what exactly he is going to be able to achieve here, really. First season in English football with a decent record abroad, but would probably need a run to get up to speed, which I don't see us giving him. I don't reckon Brighton would necessarily have greenlit the loan deal if they knew we'd end up getting Wells in.

I fondly remember this cup in years gone by. Cup games under the lights were always a bit special at Rangers.
Not no more though!. This has tuned into a bit of a joke competition, big teams do not enter until the 3rd round, what's that all about?. Man City have won it 4 out of the last 6 years.
Another gripe is the standard of ref's and linesman we are getting. Another soft penalty. Eze goal ruled out for what exactly?. Ref gave it lino overruled him!. Pity the same lino was not at the Wigan game, he might have spotted Chairs head being taken off 2 yards inside the box!!.
Rant over.
PS Wharburton is the man

No pressure on us to win any Cups or have cup runs. Very freeing to finish in a mid table position. I stopped worrying about the cups a long time ago. It's a disappointing result, but ultimately its not really going to have any bearing on our final league position. At the end of the season no one's going to be hacked off about not getting to the 3rd round of the Carabou Cup if we end up finishing comfortably mid table or higher. Equally, will the fans really be happy for us to get to, say, the semi finals, get annihilated by Liverpool or Citeh over 2 legs and get relegated in the process. It's frustrating, but these kind of games aren't really a priority for a lot of clubs, including Prem ones so not really worth getting worked up over. On to Saturday now.

Just of note (and I have said this about the Wigan game in another thread) the atmosphere last night was the best i can remember in a home cup game for many years. We actually had singing despite half the stadium being closed!!!
