Living in Hertfordshire, my nearest team is Watford - and so they are my adopted 2nd team. I am really pleased that Watford are doing so well (as so many of my friends and neighbours frequently remind me). I was in Watford this morning as the supporters were heading to Vicarage Road in buoyant moods. They are just short of a EUFA spot in the Prem, and off to Wembley for a second time next Saturday. I could not help but feel envious. They change managers regularly, buy players I have never heard of, sell them for vast profits, have a much improved stadium, were safe for another year weeks ago and improve year on year. I remember only too well how we won at the Old Vic on our way to the Prem - oh how we sung. But as much as I am pleased for Watford, it still hurts that we can mess it up so badly and they just go from strength to strength. Leicester, promoted with us back in the day went on to win the Championships..........................Palace very much our peers, but now out of sight..............the difference between a well run football club and the team we all love. At least my next door neighbour is an Ipswich supporter so it could be worse. Sigh...............but it still hurts.

Ricky, I share some of those feelings, my first cousin is a Watford fan and he will be over the moon if they win the Cup. I remember going to Watford to see a match years ago and you could get off the train and sit on the grass to watch a game. Our team is our team and I can settle for midway in the Championship, as I first started seeing them in the third division south.

I spent many years working in Watford & Hemel Hempstead. I worked for a year at Watford General Hospital and used to go to games with Watford Supporting colleagues. Having a staff parking permit also came in very handy.

The promise of a new hospital has never materialised and the place is pretty rough now.

In theoty, I supose I should be a Watford fan as they were my nearest FL club. However, we only ever went to Vicarage Road to laugh!
What else could you do when Barry Endean was their star player & they thought Rodney Green was their answer to Rodney Marsh. And the "football" they played under Ken Furphy was awful!
Mind you, my favourite all time player was also playing for them at that time - Stewart Sculliom.
I don't feel envious of their supporters, but I do rue how we wasted our two promotions to the Premier!

Hardly Green Eyed now. Great achievement by Watford to get there, but had that been QPR getting a 6 nil stuffing, it would really have hurt. The whole town got a huge lift, but what a come down. But for me, the dominance of Manchester City is a bad thing, not a good thing. First team to get the treble, highest cup final win for over a century, narrowly lost out in the Champions League - for me it is not sport but boring. Liverpool lose one game in a season and still can not win the Championship. City's second team is better than most Prem teams allowing them to rotate at ease. We have the prospect of another season of City dominance. Wonder what it will all look like in 10 years time?

It is football today that is dominated by the Abba song, Money, money, money.
The big and rich clubs bankrolled by incredibly wealthy owners/corporations maybe even governments throw money into the game but only in reality to a very few clubs.
When there are clubs such as Bolton Wanderers potentially folding yet the rescue package works out probably less than Vincent Kompany's bonus, there has to be something fundamentally wrong.
Still whilst we pay our £100 a month to Sky, buy our season tickets and pay £150 to go Wembley it will continue. Speaking to a Spurs fan yesterday, £1500 to go to Madrid...... plane, one night 3 star hotel.
Teams like ours tried to compete but due to incompetence at the highest level spent the best part of £750 million to be in 18th position in the second tier of English football.
The dreams for teams like Huddersfield just last a few short years before the financial reality means that relegation turns the dream into a nightmare.
Fulham spent £100 million and were relegated long before the end of the season.
We all on this board love football and love our team it is just a shame that money is sucking at the soul of the game.
