As soon as I post this no doubt he will be revealed as the new QPR manager but I've just heard that Ainsworth actually turned the job down yesterday.

Looks as if my source was bang on and Ainsworth turned us down.
I personally find this staggering given where he is at Wycombe and I assume a desire to manage at a higher level.
Perhaps it shows that whoever comes in doesn't call all the tunes that a football manager should.
Good luck to Warburton if that's the choice. He did a good job at Brentford so why not here?

It is certainly a strange tale. He talked up the opportunity to the point of becoming odds on favourite. His 'Let's see what happens next week' suggests that any negotiation was on-going. Perhaps he did not like what he heard, or perhaps he was asked to take on the existing coaching set-up. Did your source have any insight as to why he made this decision?

Got to be honest, I didn't really believe my mate at first as I know that as soon as the Brentford vacancy came up earlier in the year that GA was on the phone to Brentford asking to be considered!
I will see him later this week and will try to get some further insights as it does appear to be a strange decision.

I don't know your source, but common sense suggests it's very unlikely that he was offered the job.
If he was offered it, then it's even more far fetched that he would turn it down, in all honesty.
As Dave Mac says, for Ainsworth this would be a no brainer if he was offered it, especially when his stock is currently low and he's unlikely to be offered any other managerial roles in the Championship.

When I posted Ainsworth was 1/2 on to be manager.
Common sense and football tend not to live well together!

When I posted Ainsworth was 1/2 on to be manager. Common sense and football tend not to live well together! So what? As Dave Mac repeatedly says, bookies don't know. They are reactive, not proactive. In other words, their odds change based on how much money punters are putting down on a bet. Likely, then, a swathe of supposed ITK posts on a few QPR websites coupled with some click bait articles online drummed up the price on Ainsworth. Whether he actually got anywhere near being offered the job to turn down is completely unrelated to what his odds were at any given point of this appointment process. I have no inside knowledge so your source could indeed have been right. But people who do have close links to the club and this process haven't come forward and verified this. Not even close to it either. I trust the versions of events of QPR people who actually put their name on their work and whose reputations rest on what they put their name to, rather than some shadowy ITK source.
