Try 2 more goals and we are very safe and have a -5 goal diff. That 7-1 hiding really hurt us in that respect.

Great result, great performance. Back to back wins, 5 goals scored & 2 more clean sheets.
Just seen a stat, 7 clean sheets in 46 games last season, 6 clean sheets in 14 this season! Currently up to 11th, only a point off the play-offs but a few teams playing tomorrow so that will change.

I am shattered but really enjoyable. Sheff Weds had some half decent chances and there were some fairly hairy half chances with the ball zipping about our six yard box but we weathered them and took our goals well.
Lynch, while still very turnable, continues to produce commanding performances and examples of half decent distribution that is night and day from last season. Wzsolek again put in another convincing argument for him starting and for a wide man playing in this set up in general.
The second goal was a particularly nice showcase of stuff that's going well. Eze utterly unfazed in the box, Wzsolek with an intelligent, pin point cross and Freeman generating a really impressive amount of power for the header from such a lofted ball. Wells made his goal look very easy and my god did he need (and deserve) a goal.
Generally, it's just nice seeing more examples of us playing with a little swagger and confidence. Eze's touch and ability to read the game (when to milk the foul, when to accelerate, when to spread etc) is lovely to see in terms of how it grows. At one point, he received the ball at speed and just rolled it passed his man with a stroke of his studs. Classy, bit arrogant, it's just fun to watch.
On the attendance, it certainly felt quiet and the atmosphere didn't really get going much beyond some moments after the goals and a warm send off for the players at the end. It seems absolutely arse backwards for the league to back putting such geographically distant teams deliberately together midweek and throw up a red button alternative to stop people paying decent money to attend. If the league want to see a sanitised TV experience of the Championship played out in half empty stadiums, then they are very much on the right track.
Two games, five goals for us, non conceded. Uuuurrrrssss.

That was a proper game! Two sides trying to play the ball about & going forward when they could.
I thought Wednesday were more than just a reasonable team, but we matched them & scored three goals by playing football. For me, Lynch, Luongo & Freeman stood out, but that is being a bit disrespectful to the other players as they all played well.
What I really liked was our shape when defending. Wednersday tended to play down the middle, but the back four & the midfield men shuffled across & denied them the space that was required to play through us. Some serious coaching has gone on for us to achieve this effectiveness.
It isn't that long ago that I kept reading that our manager had lost the dressing room. It didn't appear that way with the togetherness of our TEAM!
Good night & thank you Rangers.

Couldn't make it due to family illness so probably counted in the attendance as we are both ST Holders.
Current form suggests we are now one of the best sides in the division which is a major turnaround from a few weeks ago. Saw the possession stats from last night and recall when we were playing 'tippy tap' football and having most possession but losing.
At the end of the day how many goals did we score v's how many we concede.
Clean sheets are always a good indicator and another shut out last night must be testimony that we are in much better shape than we were.
I just hope that it all doesn't go to our heads and we start talking about play-offs. One game at a time, get enough to stave off relegation first!

Really enjoyable evening. Mild weather, traffic fine.....and then splendid football. I said on the way back to the car that it does not get much better than this. It comes down to the confusion that we suffer when there is so much more enjoyment to be had in the Championship, and yet we still aspire to get into the Prem. But once in the Prem, it can can be very painful and not very enjoyable. Some of the most miserable seasons of late have been when we were in the top flight. So we are conflicted. However, playing great football, winning by 3 very good clear goals, on a very good run, mid table and seeing some of our players perform out of their skins! 10 out of 10. First off, we look really well coached at the moment. Everyone seems to know their jobs playing in a settled side. Fitness, we were quicker to the ball than Sheffield, won nearly all the second balls, and Freeman found another gear. One interception and sprint from Freeman was soooo good. Lynch - who is this guy? Playing his best football for us. He and Leistner have formed a great partnership (even though they still have a mistake in them most games - usually letting the ball bounce between them) but currently keeping Hall out of the team. Cameron - playing in front of the back four but provides great cover. Hamed & Wells - really great that they both scored. I hoped that if we scored a 3rd that Wells would break his duck - and he did. Freeman & Luongo - seems to be rediscovering some of their best form Wszolek - so good to see a winger in the new shape - I hope that it allows for Bright and Smyth to get game time and finally......Eze. What a great player he already is. Some fantastic touches and the opposition did not know what to do with him. He led their number 8 a merry dance. For the second goal there were three Wednesday players directly in front of him. They did not want to touch him for fear of a penalty. His lay off to Wszolek was great and he lofted a great ball to Freeman's head and game over. I really hope that we can enjoy him for some considerable time rather than see him sat on a bench for one of the richer clubs. In the Championship he can express himself and develop. Real talent. There will be some tougher matches to sit through, but time to enjoy the game and the progress we have made.

I know exactly what you mean about Championship v Premier League and conflicted is the right word. Can't help think that promotion could be a disaster football wise but, if we keep this up band finish just outside the play-offs, we'll be disappointed and if we were to actually make the play-offs, we'd be disappointed if we didn't win the final. Maybe I'm being pessimistic and, were we somehow to reach the promised land, we will have learnt from previous attempts, spend money wisely and finally make a go of it.

Just one other observation. We have probably debated the value of loan signings on this board more than any other subject. Last night the two best Sheffield players were: Joshua Onomah - on loan from Tottenham - already 21, but some really nice touches - similar player to Eze - but what are his chances at Spurs? Michael Hector - on loan from Chelsea - he is 26 years old and spent his Chelsea career out on loan. He was their best defender yesterday IMHO. Sheffield only have 2 players on loan at present and are of course wrestling with FFP and the transfer embargo, but increasingly teams are becoming dependent on loan players who have not got a cat in hell chance of getting in to the team of their parent club. Daft init.

Villa tomorrow will be a much tougher test. Don't necessarily agree it will be that much tougher. Man for man, yes, but they've underachieved with what they've got on paper (something we know all about from recent history!). They're two places below Sheffield Wednesday in the league, have only won one in the last six (including losses to Millwall and Sheffield Wednesday) and despite the new manager, this doesn't feel like a team that's just going to suddenly turn everything around. Don't think it'll be easy by any means - they've got a squad that, if drilled properly and if they can actually be arsed, should be walking this division. But we are on a good little run, this game will mean a lot more to us and if people turn out, should be an intimidating atmosphere under the lights. We should feel good going into this, I think. It's the hope that kills you etc.
